Answer to last Monday's song: Let It Snow. No one guessed this.
Answer to last Monday's song: Let It Snow. No one guessed this.
I'm also probably (partly at the request of Janeea) going to keep posting song quotes for you to guys to guess. There's no prize up for grabs right now, but you can still feel smart and satisfied when you know stuff. Like playing Sporcle.
See y'all tomorrow!
Even though they've probably existed for as long as Sherlock Holmes has, I'm pretty sure that every time the movie Sherlock Holmes plays, 100 slash fics spontaneously come into being. They don't get written, they just suddenly exist.
In other words, it was awesome, and you should all see it. I love it when men love each other (platonically, I'm sure) but won't say so, because they are men. Also, Holmes and Watson are 12. Also also, I have a real thing for big reveals, when someone explains the whole elaborate plot, as well as the person doing the revealing. Because it's SCIENCE!
One gripe though: I knew, as soon as Rachel McAdams walked on the screen, that she was going to need saving at some point in the movie, despite the fact that she's a badass, and a successful theif, and carries a knife. And I was right. Because women, no matter how cool, always need saving eventually. Blech.
Finally, Janeea and I kept drawing parallels between this movie and Firefly. Right down to the music. This is not a bad thing.
Conclusion: I have the hots for Sherlock Holmes. Always have. Right back to my childhood, with Basil, the Great Mouse Detective. (Who isn't actually Sherlock Holmes, but is close enough). But I haven't really ever read one of his stories. I should get on that.
Once again, I wish to declare my undying love for Drake and Josh.
Drake & Josh: *win contest*
Drake: I'm so excited! I have to kiss someone! *grabs random girl and kisses her*
Girl: What was that for?
Drake: I won a contest.
Girl: Yay. *grabs Drake and kisses him again*
Josh: *kisses random girl* I won a contest!
Girl: *in male voice* Congratulations man.
Employment man: What do you do?
Drake: I date girls and play guitar.
Also, my first babble:
That wasn't very long, but then again there was no babble length requirement. Oh well. Other ones will be longer, I promise. :)
To all the people who told me to go see Iron Man, because I would like it:
You were right. It was SO GOOD.
Iron Man: *flies up really high and gets all icy, falls, recovers*
Me: Well, that was pointless.
Janeea: He just wanted to see how high he could get before he died. Like Jimmy Hendrix.
Just for the record, I spent the last two nights turning pages for Janeea during the production of Nunsense that she was musical director for, and it was amazing. The girls were amazing, the singing was amazing, Janeea is amazing, there was amazingness all around. Oh, and Emily, who I barely know, but am in love with. :)
And that is a really funny show, let me tell you.
Also, since it's technically Easter now, a word about that.
I have been looking forward to a hollow chocolate bunny for about a month now. I get one every year for Easter. You might think that I'd prefer a solid chocolate rabbit (there's more chocolate involved, after all) but no. There's nothing quite as satisfying as biting into the ears of a hollow rabbit and feeling it sort of...pop.
Yeah. I'm weird. But it's late and I'm a little loopy, so, meh.
So now that I have see Once on This Island twice, I can post some thoughts about it.
I liked and disliked a lot of little things about it, but overall I enjoyed watching it, and it was very well done.
As per usual, the preceeding was only my opinions, not solid facts, and your mileage may vary.
I'm not going to be around for the next few days. The ever lovely and talented Janeea and I are leaving for Pennsylvania in... 24 minutes to visit the crazy and lovable Hannah Sternberg. We'll be back Tuesday.
So don't look for us, ok?
P.S. OMG HANNAH YAY!!!
Though I do have to post this from the night before...
Janeea: Ow. Ow. OW!
Janeea: I dropped a can of soda on my toe yesterday, and I just hit it.
Me: What kind of soda was it?
Janeea: Root beer. And not even the good kind, the Price Chopper kind!
Other than that... It was fantastic. We seemed to hit all the rides before the lines got too long, I went on the Boomerang for the first time, and we learned some valuable lessons; namely not to sit in the very back of the Comet, and not to go on the Alpine Bobsled three times in a row. Kelli: "Why did we say ok? Why?" There are bruises.
Oh and Erin got soaked during the dive show. By pirates. YAY PIRATES!!!
Feel free to add stuff guys.
Oh, I am a DORK.
Anyways, the week from hell is officially over today when I give my tamarin power-point presentation, and then I can relax again. I haven't stopped going since Sunday morning. Maybe I'll find the energy to post about it here eventually.
Neea's supposed to be coming tonight! WOOT!!
Yesterday, I read the end of PoA to him and Nora, even though he hadn't read the beginning. But he read the first two books, and I didn't want him to leave, so it was all good. And Nora and I enjoyed filling him in on what he had missed. Now I just have to convince him to read the other three (soon to be four).
Elsewise, I'm driving Ellen to Plymouth College in New Hampshire tomorrow, which I agreed to do before she told me that she had to be there at 8:00am. And it's two hours away. And that means that I have to get up at 5:00 tomorrow morning. 5am. GAH.
Oh, and it's Lent again. Since trying to give up swearing last year didn't really go too well, this year I've given up eating cookies and cupcakes and other unhealthy things for breakfast. (Not altogether, just for breakfast.) Instead I've been eating cereal and muffins and rice cakes, and things that may be marginally more healthy. I am also considering giving up non-diet sodas and I'm trying to read at least a little every day. It's been going well, but it's only the third day of Lent.
And Neea's coming to visit me next Thursday! With SuperMatt! Woot!!
That's all for now. Peace!
Anyways, in case you haven't heard, which means you haven't seen me since Christmas, I got two major presents: a digital camera and a fish tank.
Which brings me to my questions for the general public: where can I get a cheap and good memory card for the camera, and what sort of fish do you recommend for the tank? I don't think I'm going to go with a beta fish, because I can fit at least two in this bowl, and if I'm going to have/maintain this big tank, I'm getting more than one fish.
And um... That's all really. Nothing too exciting has been happening, other than hanging out with cool people. Oh, and I saw Little Miss Sunshine last night, which was a fantastic movie. Thank you Janeea!
Also, I saw the bunny! Yay bunny!
Well, this post was random. Huh.
I used to have an e-mail account at Adelphia. When Comcast bought Adelphia, my e-mail account got eaten by the Great Cyberspace Dragon, and it no longer exists. This has been the situation for a good couple of months now, but I've been lazy and awful and neglected to tell anyone that.
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that if you want to e-mail me now, you'll have to send it to firstname.lastname@example.org, as this is my only working e-mail address currently. Also, if you've sent me anything via e-mail in the past couple months, I didn't get it.
That's all for that.
In other news, we got a Christmas tree, we decorated the house, my foot still hurts, (but I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow) and I am bored out of my mind. So if anyone ever wants to do anything... I've seen Neea, Erin, and Renee already, but no one else, so CALL ME.
Only not Wednesday, cause that's Christmas cookie making day. (Though if you want to come over Wednesday night, there will be oodles of freshly baked cookies on hand...)
Anyhoodle, it's time for dinner now, so Adios!
Not that the ones here aren't wonderful, because they are, (Jenn, especially you) but I need people that I don't have to explain Encore and all my issues to before we can work through this new shit.
I want Neea. And Hannah. And Sarah. And lots of other people, but if I put all your names in here, I'll never stop crying.
I don't want to be me anymore.
