28 days until my wedding, and Project Runway recap under the cut!
This was a very strange week on Project Runway. There was only one top look, and the judges had a serious hate-on for one team that I thought for sure would be in the top. Very strange indeed.
The challenge was to make an unconventional wedding dress, somewhat inspired by Dita von Teese's unconventional wedding dress. The designers had to work in teams of two, and make one dress for the wedding and one for the reception, but they had to look like they went with the same woman. Tim told them that there were no rules, but I don't think the judges agreed because they complained about EVERYTHING.
The top looks were only one team, Kini & Sean.
Kini, wedding dress:

This dress is for a lesbian wedding, and therefore has a more masculine top and feminine skirt. I'm going to say it: Kini should have won this challenge. This is WAY more work than Sean's look, and Kini actually made the shirt for Sean's look, which is what the judges responded to the best. Also, I just like this better than Sean's.
Sean, reception outfit:

This is nice, don't get me wrong, but Sean spent all his time making the pants. He's just not as talented as Kini.
The bottom looks were Alexander & Samantha, Emily & Fade, and Char & Sandhya.
Alexander, wedding dress:

I have no problem with this, but he judges HATED it and I really don't understand why. The only thing they pointed out that I agreed wasn't the best was the seam at her knee level, but still. This didn't deserve to be on the bottom.
Samantha, reception dress:

I can't even remember why the judges didn't like this. I would totally wear this if I had the body for it. Oh, I do remember that they weren't crazy about the dark red on the bottom, but it's hardly even noticeable. This didn't belong on the bottom either.
Emily, Wedding Dress:

The judges said this was too gothic for a wedding, which is bullshit because it was supposed to be an unconventional wedding, and there have been lots of dark and gothic brides. I don't love this, but I don't know why they hated it so much. Then again, I really like black lace.
Fade, reception dress:

The judges, especially Heidi, actually liked this dress and the way Fade made the textile. They didn't think it looked like it belonged to the same woman that would wear Emily's wedding dress, which is ironic because I'm pretty sure he was only in the bottom because they didn't like Emily's. I like this dress a lot, and would totally wear it.
Sandhya, wedding dress:

This is bad, I'm not going to lie, and the color is bad too. I don't like the knit top, but I do like the skirt. The judges hated all of it, even the skirt. But, they and I agree, it's not as bad as Char's.
Char, reception dress:

This is such a shame, because I love Char so much. I don't even know what went wrong here, but this is awful and even though I was sad to see her go this was definitely the worst look. :(
