Ok friends, Romans, countrymen, I need help. I wrote something, and I'm opening it up to a general friends-Beta. I'm going to post a question at the end that I need answered, but ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE READ THE ENTIRE FIC! (I don't want to bias your opinion.) Besides the question, all other comments and criticisims are welcome. (Except blatant flames, but I trust you all enough to not do that.)
Yes it's Harry Potter, and Remus/Sirius, (shocking I know) but there's nothing bad in it (Rated G) and it's still worth the read. UNLESS YOU HAVE NOT READ BOOK FIVE IN WHICH CASE THERE ARE SPOILERS HERE DON'T READ THIS.
So here you go.
James was overjoyed to see him.
“Padfoot! We didn’t think you’d be here so soon!” He exclaimed as Sirius walked in.
“Neither did I, but, here I am.”
Lily, hearing voices, walked in. “Sirius! I told James you’d get here before Remus. He’s more careful of -" James hugged Lily, cutting her off.
“I told her that you’d beat Remus,” he whispered to Sirius over her shoulder.
Sirius smiled. He’d missed them.
“Well, come in, sit down, stay a while,” Lily said, shrugging off James and smiling. “Tell us about your trip.”
When they were all seated, Sirius explained. Lily hugged him when he was done.
“All that matters is that you got here." She saw the way he and James were looking at each other. “And now, I’ll leave you two alone.”
Almost as soon as she had left the room, James asked, “What’s up Padfoot? You looked distressed.”
“It’s nothing.”
James gave him a look. “If there’s one thing I’ve learned, Padfoot, it’s that honesty is always best. No secrets. Especially not between us.”
Sirius smiled sadly. “Oh all right. It’s... I’ve left Remus. Moony. I love him you know.”
“I love him too.”
“Not like that and you know it.” He scowled, but James was grinning so he went on.
“I love him, and I didn’t mean to leave him, but it just sort of happened. Maybe it had to happen,” he added, almost to himself.
James shrugged. “It doesn’t sound permanent then. Just a little break. If you really love him and you want to be together again, you can.”
“I know.”
“But?” James knew him too well.
“But, how long will it take? I want him to be happy, but I also want him with me. What if the two don’t go together?”
“Don’t worry Padfoot. No matter how long it takes, you’ll be together again. I can feel it. You’re meant to be, just like me and Lils. Remus’ll get here eventually, and then you two can work it all out.” He paused. “And in the mean time, I’ll make sure you aren’t bored.” He was grinning again.
This time Sirius grinned back. He loved Remus, and he missed Remus, but for the time being he didn’t have Remus. He had James, here and now. He’d be dammed if he was going to sit and mope when he could be enjoying that. “So... anyone appreciate a good prank around here?”
James laughed and stood. As they walked out he threw his arm across Sirius’ shoulders, still laughing, and said, “Lily will be so thrilled! Wait till we tell her... Padfoot and Prongs, back in business!"
Ok. So here's the question: Is this written before or after Sirius' death? Because I was desperately trying to make it so it could be read either way, as that he was dead and in Heaven with Lily and James waiting for Remus, or that he had just broken up with Remus and was at Lily and James' house waiting for him. I tried not to put anything definitive in there. So what do you guys think? What impression did you get? Please let me know, and remember that all other comments are welcome.
P.S. If you haven't read book five, SHAME THE HELL ON YOU! Do it, you know you want to. All the cool kids have.
