For the record, I am not leaving LJ. I can, however, understand why others are. I backed up my entire LJ to Dreamwidth back in December (mostly because I like having 10+ years of my life backed up somewhere) and am updating my entries since then over there as we speak, but I'll still be here.

Anyway, I have the same user name at Dreamwidth, if you want to find me. I haven't done anything on that site besides back my shit up, so I don't really know how to use it, but there you go.
Well, for the millionth time, I'm trying to get re-invested in LJ. I've read all your April entries (all five days of them!) and am going to keep trying. LJ4EVA!

Also, along with about 200,000+ people, I am watching April the Giraffe not give birth (out of the corner of my eye while I work). It's strangely soothing to watch a giraffe, they just seem so chill. I do hope she gets to go outside more often once this baby is finally born (unless she's trolling us all, and there is no baby, which seems possible at this point.) I also keep an eye on the DC Eaglets, which is also soothing. Usually. Pro-tip: Don't put this stream's sound on, then minimize the window, forget it's on, and jump a foot when the eagle shouts at passing blue jays. Fuckers are LOUD.

More Face Off Catching Up! )
So, as happens every year, I got crazy busy in December and neglected my LJ (and after I'd just promised to be better at it in November this year... oops) so I think I'm going to officially go on a break until Jan 1, and start fresh in the New Year.

Hope you all have wonderful holidays, and see you in 2017 (which has to be a better year than 2016, right? RIGHT?)
I am terrible at Livejournal, and I apologize. But I have to write this down.

*this Uncle Kracker song comes on the radio*
Andrew, after two verses: Wait, is this song about a guy sleeping with a married woman?
Me: Yes. His only hit, and that is exactly what it's about. At least, I think it was his only hit. Can you name any other Uncle Kracker songs?
Andrew: Isn't that 'tear my life into pieces, this is my last resort' song by them?
Me: That's by Papa Roach. Totally different genre, style, etc.
Andrew: Well, they're both related to you.

Also, we went to lunch Saturday at this cute little diner that has tiny jukeboxes at each booth. We were seated at a table though, so all the music we heard was chosen by the group of four 10-12 year olds at the booth next to us. (Their parents were at another table nearby, supervising, and I definitely heard one kid go, "DON'T talk to me!" to them, lol). I am ashamed/pleased that I really bopped to all the music they picked. Apparently, my musical tastes are right in line with the youths.

Day 18: Quote - I really struggled with this one, because I love quotes, and how could I pick just one? Finally, I decided to go back to the very first entry on my LJ, because I knew I had started it as a place to record quotes. The very first quote I wrote down was, "I love you. I also love Buster Keaton. But he's dead." This was said by my friend Hannah, and I'm thankful for it because it inspired me to start this journal. And here we all are, 11 years later. :D

Day 19: Clothing - I am most thankful for my sweaters. I have a bunch of button-up sweaters, in various colors (and I'm hoping to get more in the near future) and I wear one every day from September through May. They're light, but they keep me warm, they're easy to get on and off, and I like the multitude of colors.
1. I somehow got behind on reading my friends page, but plan to have read all the way back to the beginning of February before I go to bed tonight. I think I had it all under control before then.

2. Andrew and I finally watched Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, and I really liked it! I remember seeing that play on stage once, and not loving it, but I think Joss cut it down so it didn't drag as much and made a lot more sense. Also, I really like Alexis Denisof and wish he was in more things.

3. My beautilful Belarusian prince Dmitry won Project Runway All Stars! I knew he could do it. :D
Congratulations to me, I have read all your entries from now back to Christmas Eve. I decided not to go back any further than that because that was already 100 entries back and it took me like three days to get through. Anyway, I'm all caught up with your lives now, and I'm going to try really hard not to get behind again!
Hello everyone! I am posting this from my parents' living room, because they have internet and I still don't. I just wanted to say a few things.

1. Obviously I am wicked behind on reading and updating, so I think, for the foreseeable future, that the daily posting schedule is going out the window. I was kind of starting to feel burnt out with that anyway, and running out of things to say. Not that I'm abandoning y'all or anything, and I'm sure I'll have plenty of new work stories here shortly, but I just thought you should be aware of the schedule change.

2. I also think I'm going to stop with the song quote titles on a regular basis. This is honestly because I don't think anyone really cares anymore, including me. But, by all means, if anyone feels strongly that they want me to keep going I could probably manage.

3. I have learned SO MUCH at this job in just a week, and it's awesome. For instance, on Friday I learned that the head of my department is a gymnastics coach on the side, and he did a backflip in the office for us. I promise I've learned environmental stuff too though. :D

4. I'm not quite mature enough for this office environment. Someone said that multi-family housing was an area in which we needed 'deeper penetration' and I started to giggle, then realized that no one else was laughing. I guess 'that's what she said' isn't a popular joke around here. It's not a super serious place, but it's a lot more professional than where I worked in NC.

5. During HR orientation, when the guy was listing off all the things that could be considered sexual harassment, I had to concentrate really hard on not laughing because we used to do EVERY SINGLE ONE of them at my last job on a regular basis. Especially discussing people's sexual prowess.

Everyone hope that I get internet installed soon!
Hello new friends!

If anyone else is interested in making some new LJ friends, there's a fall friending meme going on over here:

Some sort of an intro post is here, in case you're more curious about me. And if you want to ask me questions, please feel free! Also, each post on my LJ here has a song quote as a title, and people guess what the song is. I reveal the answers a week later, so don't worry if you don't check back every single day. :D

On that note: The answer to last Thursday's song was A Professional Pirate, from Muppet Treasure Island. Janeea got this one right!
We watched Nik Wallenda walk across the Grand Canyon tonight... I can't decide if he's brave, crazy, stupid, or some combination of the three, but it sure was an interesting event to witness.

The best part was that they had paramedics stationed at the bottom of the canyon, just in case. You may as well have had a hearse down there, because I don't think you can survive a fall of 1500 feet.

Answer to last Sunday's song: Breakfast at Tiffany's, by Deep Blue Something. No one guessed this.

P.S. [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets is hosting Disney week on her LJ this week, so I'm going to do another round of Disney song quotes here to go along with that. :D
I'm always too tired on Fridays to do a real post, so please look forward to a much longer one tomorrow (hopefully).

I am going to go update last night's PR liveblog with pictures right now though, so you guys can get your click on over there. :D

Answer to last Friday's song: The Reason, by Hoobastank. I dislike this song for many reasons, not the least of which is how disgustingly sappy the lyrics are.
Completely gratuitous post just to have a post for today. :)

Answer to last Tuesday's song, and the first song after Lent: Just Give Me a Reason by Pink, featuring Nate Ruess from Fun. No one guessed this, which makes me really sad because Fun is awesome, and Pink is awesome, and this song is AMAZING and how have you guys not memorized it by now? GEEZE.

Here! Listen to it! Enjoy the official video, which features Pink making out with her actual husband, which means that they were probably really half naked and really making out, which makes this like, softcore porn... While Nate Ruess watches/serenades. Kinky. (Also, WHERE DO I SIGN UP FOR THAT?)

How long do you think I can keep up posting every day, now that Lent is over? In any case, I'm definitely going to finish the 30 day meme, don't you worry. I also have a letter meme from [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets from like, six months ago (ok, it hasn't really been that long... I think) that I swear I haven't forgotten.

I'm also probably (partly at the request of Janeea) going to keep posting song quotes for you to guys to guess. There's no prize up for grabs right now, but you can still feel smart and satisfied when you know stuff. Like playing Sporcle.

See y'all tomorrow!
Hellz yeah, bitches and hoes! (Good GOD, it has been a long time since I've said that).

ANYWAY, big ole friending meme going on! Go play!

Friend-of-a-friend friending meme of doom! // Right this way!
So, yesterday I did a (loooooong overdue) update of my LJ profile. You should check it out, I hadn't edited it since some time in high school (maybe Freshman year of college) and it needed it. ANYWAY.

Part of this was updating my interests section. One of the things I tried to add was a book title: Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging. However, when I hit "Save Changes" I got this error message "Sorry, you have listed an interest with 6 words. Each interest has a limit of 4 words."

WTF LiveJournal? We can only be interested in things with four word titles? So, in addition to not being able to list ATaFFS (or probably any of the other Georgia Nicholson books) you also cannot be interested in:

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Hound of the Baskervilles
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (not even if you drop the PotC part)
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (which EVERYONE should see, because Wesley Snipes in drag)
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
How I Met Your Mother

And that's just a small sample. These things are not obscure, LJ, what the hell were you thinking with the four word limit? I'm sure you had a reason for this nonsense, but really. You're leaving out a good chunk of things people might be fans of. You might want to reconsider.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RON WEASLEY !!!

I'm disappointed that you're not the picture on my desktop calendar this month, but you can't win them all. Perhaps they are saving you for later?

Also, my long use of livejournal seriously helped me figure out how to make the WordPress site for my master's project, so thanks lj!
So, Andrew and I have been slowly working our way through all the Sherlock Holmes stuff ever written, and we are almost finished. Thus, dear people of livejournal, I would like to ask you what other "classics" you have read and enjoyed, that you would recommend we start next. I was pleasantly surprised by how good Sherlock Holmes is, but you never can tell with "classic" things everyone likes. Like Pride and Prejudice.

Anyway, thoughts? And don't anybody say Dickens.

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEVILLE!!!

Livejournal, to hell with Bastelle Day, it's my birthday!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!
Hi everybody! I have been in South Carolina for a week, sans internets, (in case you were unaware of this fact) but I am back now.

Tomorrow, I will catch up on over a week of missed posts, but if there's anything extremely pressing that you'd like me to know comment away!

So, this meme has been floating around Facebook lately, but I know that it's originally a Livejournal meme, so...

I will post quotes, and those who want to play should guess what movie they are from. For this set of quotes, they will all be Disney movies. And I'm not going to pick easy lines, either.
