This episode began with McKenzie explaining that all the parts, even the female ones, were played by men in Shakespeare's day... But she made it seem like this was a huge revelation, not something that everyone and their brother already knows. Seriously, Face Off, give your audience (and contestants) a little credit. Anyway, then she brought out Ve (who did the makeup for Mrs. Doubtfire) to discuss how each designer was going to be assigned a female Shakespeare character and a male model, and they had to make him look female. That was pretty much the whole challenge, which I didn't think was that big of deal, but apparently it was because everyone started freaking out. Maybe because this was another focus challenge, meaning that they only had to do a face, but it had to be flawless?

False face must hide what the false face doth know. )
1. I somehow got behind on reading my friends page, but plan to have read all the way back to the beginning of February before I go to bed tonight. I think I had it all under control before then.

2. Andrew and I finally watched Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, and I really liked it! I remember seeing that play on stage once, and not loving it, but I think Joss cut it down so it didn't drag as much and made a lot more sense. Also, I really like Alexis Denisof and wish he was in more things.

3. My beautilful Belarusian prince Dmitry won Project Runway All Stars! I knew he could do it. :D
This was the Goodreads quote today, and I like to think they did it on purpose, for Robin.

The breaking of so great a thing should make
A greater crack; the round world
Should have shook lions into civil streets,
And citizens to their dens.

-William Shakespeare
Things I have learned in the last few days:

1. This is Jim Carrey. (MIND BLOWN).

2. MacBeth was a real person, even though the depiction of him in Shakespeare is wildly fictional.

3. Joanna Garcia is going to play Ariel on Once Upon A Time this coming season. I am 100% behind this, because I like her... Not least of all because she played my favorite character (Sam), teller of my favorite story (Watcher's Woods), on my all time favorite TV show (Are You Afraid of the Dark?)

No song last Sunday. This is going to be a common theme for a little while here, unfortunately. Edisto was super nice, but it was also the land with no internet.
You know, I constantly think of/experience things that I want to put in here, and then when I sit down to type I can't remember any of them. WTF?

Random Events of My Life

- The only reason I got dressed today was becasue it's Kirstin's birthday and we had a little party for her. That means I got dressed at about 6:00pm.

- Emily made us key lime pie for Kirstin's party, and I've never had that before, but it was DELICIOUS.

- My Catholic college is currently showing The Birdcage on the movie channel, and we now also get LOGO, the gay channel. (Both of which I consider good things, just weird given the context.) And I was channel surfing at 3:00am (don't even ask) and Queer as Folk was on it and I watched it and it was SO FUCKING GOOD. God I love Hal Sparks. It's an amazing show. GAH.

- My philosophy professor wore a purple and yellow striped tie the other day, and when he walked into wheeled into entered the room, in my head I went HUFFLEPUFF TIE! YOU ARE A HUFFLEPUFF! AWWWWWWWWWWW! I think Hufflepuffs would be philosophy majors, don't you?

- I am a huge dork.

- I tried out for the directing scenes, and the cast list goes up tomorrow. AHHHHHHHHH!!! I'm so freaking nervous. I really need to be on a stage again. It's not that I don't like stage managing, because I do, but I'm also an attention whore and I need to be SEEN.

- Blackfriars came and did A Midsummer Night's Dream and it was SO AMAZING. And Puck was a satyr. How cool is that? But they cut the character of Snout, and I don't know why. Oh, and the other show they're doing this season? Cyrano.

- The Monty Python show goes off book tomorrow night... That's all I'm going to say about that.

- We watched Sleepy Hollow tonight. I don't know how, but I'd forgotten just how beautiful Johnny Depp is. Yes, I have 3 posters of him on my walls, but he's so much better in motion.

- That movie always reminds me of Hannah. I LOVE MY HANNAH! I MISS MY HANNAH!

I'll be back tomorrow if I think of anything else. Peace!

ETA: Somehow I forgot the part where we, as a suite, with boys, watched Alice In Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy. That's right kids, we watched Alice in Wonderland porn. From the 70's. And it was actually sort of good, like with a followable plot. I'd watch it again, in fact. But there were musical numbers! With choreography! And only one of them was about a penis!

Oh, I love my suite.
Just saw Romeo and Juliet at the Paramount, and it was amazing, as the summer Shakespeare plays always are.

Josh was hysterical, and everyone did a wonderful job, and it was so very well acted, and the set was beautiful, and the only thing I didn't like about the whole play were the sleeves on Anna Baker's dress.

And Wes was actually not as bad a Tybalt as I had feared he might be. (Of course Jacob was as good a Mercutio as I knew he would be. Way to do my favorite character proud! I don't even KNOW Jacob and I like him.)

Also, I believed the chemistry between Anna and Pat. They sold it and I bought it.

Heh. Pat was emo. Hahahahahaha! I do love him though. And Anna. And the other Anna. And Josh. And everyone else. It was very very good. CONGRATULATIONS

P.S. A hippie commune thing has set up camp in the pit. WTF?
OMFG I just saw the funniest thing!

On Disney's House of Mouse they did A Midsummer Night's Dream with Mickey and Minnie as Lysander and Hermia, and Donald and Daisy as Demetrius and Helena, and then Goofy was Puck. I laughed my ass off.

And Von Drake was the Duke and Scrooge was Egeus, and Von Drake is like "Marriage or die? Where'd you learn those parenting skills? I'd have run away too!"

They even threw in a bunch of the real Shakespeare lines, and Goofy/Puck was like "what are you saying?" and it was just really fucking funny.

Ok I'm done being weird now.
If you see this on your f-list, quote Shakespeare.

Ok then.

Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grude break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

From forth the fatal loins of these two foes,
A pair of star-crossed loves take their life.
Who's misadventured piteous overthroes
Doth with their death bury their parents' strife.

The fearful passage of their death-marked love,
And the continuance of their parent's rage
Which, but their childrens' end, naught could remove,
Is now the two hours traffic of our stage.

The which, if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

Romeo and Juliet, from memory. So if it's not perfect, meh.

In addition, I'll reply to all comments with Shakespeare quotes. (Probably irrelevant ones.)

Night!
