Face Off time! The format of the show changed this week, from teams of two to 'super teams' of four (made up of two teams of two, they didn't split people from their partners). Furthermore, there will be no more immunity, and someone will be eliminated every week from now on.

Super Team Looks! )

Next time, hopefully soon, is witches!
For the record, I am not leaving LJ. I can, however, understand why others are. I backed up my entire LJ to Dreamwidth back in December (mostly because I like having 10+ years of my life backed up somewhere) and am updating my entries since then over there as we speak, but I'll still be here.

Anyway, I have the same user name at Dreamwidth, if you want to find me. I haven't done anything on that site besides back my shit up, so I don't really know how to use it, but there you go.
Well, for the millionth time, I'm trying to get re-invested in LJ. I've read all your April entries (all five days of them!) and am going to keep trying. LJ4EVA!

Also, along with about 200,000+ people, I am watching April the Giraffe not give birth (out of the corner of my eye while I work). It's strangely soothing to watch a giraffe, they just seem so chill. I do hope she gets to go outside more often once this baby is finally born (unless she's trolling us all, and there is no baby, which seems possible at this point.) I also keep an eye on the DC Eaglets, which is also soothing. Usually. Pro-tip: Don't put this stream's sound on, then minimize the window, forget it's on, and jump a foot when the eagle shouts at passing blue jays. Fuckers are LOUD.

More Face Off Catching Up! )
So, now that things have calmed down a bit at work, I am going to try to do a big Face Off catch up. But Megan, I hear you saying, why couldn't you do these posts from home? Because I like doing it with two screens, and also Skyrim.

I am also planning to do a post about this event I went to last weekend called ConBust, but I need to get some pictures off my camera first.

Anyway, Face Off Double Post! )
So, my original plan was to combine this episode (not an elimination week) with the next one (an elimination week) and then be all caught up. But then SyFy (CURSE YOU) left the elimination episode off on a CLIFFHANGER without saying who went home, so I'll have to do that with the next two episodes.

Jekyll & Hyde? )
Yikes, I am so far behind with Face Off Posts... I also want to talk some Oscars fashion, but how late is too late to do that?

Anyway, here's Face Off from ages ago!

Yes I'm alone, but I'm alone and free! )
MONSTER HIGH, YOU GUYS, MONSTER HIGH ON FACEOFF.

I kind of wish this challenge had happened during a regular season, so we could have seen like, 12 or 14 looks, but whatever. Also, this post is long AF, and I have far more opinions than usual. :D

You know that all the looks are under here, not just top and botom )
GUYS. The Face Off Monster High episode is on TOMORROW, and I am so excited that I'm considering watching it live (rather than then next day off my DVR, sans commercials.).

Anyway, before we get to that, let's wrap up last week's episode (sorry this post is so late) and first elimination!

Face Off -

Jan. 27th, 2017 10:53 am
Face Off is back! And it's All Stars! And they're in teams!

MacKenzie started the episode by saying the contestants should forget everything they know about Face Off, and I scoffed, but actually it's running quite differently. The designers are working in teams of two; week one, the teams compete for immunity the next week, and week two the judges eliminate an entire team (this way the season is the same number of episodes, but you can totally suck every other week and not go home).

Melissa is back, as is Jasmine, and Adam, and a bunch of other people from past seasons that I like (Emily! Stella! Rachel!) Plus, February 7th they are doing a MONSTER HIGH CHALLENGE. <3 <3 <3

Yay All-Stars! (P.S. I have those same green scale leggings... I'm cool!)

Challenge number one involved a green screen, and it was AWESOME. )
(I try to stay out of politics on this journal, but we're going to put that policy on hold for just this one post.)

Feeling overwhelmed by the utter fuckery happening in the US right now? Join us in resisting! My co-worker Liz started this group, PostCard Resist, and we'd love to have you to join. (You don't literally have to join the FB group, just join the movement).

The plan is simple:

Step 1: We identify an issue in the US government. For instance, yesterday we focused on the potential repeal of the ACA. Focusing on just one issue helps to prevent us from feeling inundated.

Step 2: We identify who we can write to in the federal government who can help change the direction the above issue is heading. Liz/my coworkers have lists and addresses, so all you have to do is ask for them (no research required!)

Step 3: Write a postcard urging the above people to resist! Not a whole letter, no phone calls required (I hate calling even people I know unless it's my mother, so this is my favorte part) and postcard stamps are even cheaper than regular ones. We even found a simple script online to help with what to write.

Profit! You don't have to deal with all the issues at once, you don't have to feel like your single letter/call/postcard is inconsequential (we mailed a freaking STACK yesterday), but you also don't have to kill you hand writing dozens of things every day. Plus, it's something we can actually do, instead of just feeling depressed.

Spread the word! Join us! We will not go quietly into that good night!

(We will now return to your regular LJ experience. Face Off is back!)
I don't have the strength for every dress at the Golden Globes, and The Fug Girls' site is loading so slowly that it makes me want to punch their servers, but let us not break with tradition and instead have a GG fashion post!

Highlights (and lowlights) are here, in no order whatsoever. )
So, Andrew bought me Skyrim for Christmas, which I wasn't sure if I would like... It's AMAZING and I LOVE it. It's all I want to do, and I easily lose 3+ hours to it before I know that any time has passed. <3

My favorite thing is that once you've done a task for someone, even something trivial like 'talk to my son' you then get to take every single thing in their house, for free. It's fabulous.

My least favorite thing is that you have to kill dragons, rather than befriend and/or ride them. I kind of thought 'dragonborn' was going to mean I was part dragon and could at least control (if not befriend) them, but no. :(

So, if you want to talk about Skyrim, I am here for you. I'm just about to go to the College and learn magic, but I'll still be here for you after that.
Merry Christmas All!!!

TLM
(I posed this on FB too, but I just love it so)

So, as happens every year, I got crazy busy in December and neglected my LJ (and after I'd just promised to be better at it in November this year... oops) so I think I'm going to officially go on a break until Jan 1, and start fresh in the New Year.

Hope you all have wonderful holidays, and see you in 2017 (which has to be a better year than 2016, right? RIGHT?)
Just finished watching Zootopia. I had heard that it was good, but it was so much better than I anticipated! I loved all the little references and allusions to other movies (both Disney and non) and it's also so, SO appropriate for our current situation.

I really can't wait to see Moana now! I mean, I was excited before, because Lin and The Rock, but now even more so. Disney is the best.
Today's random TV thought: I love Holiday Baking Championship, but man is Bobby Deen ever obnoxious as a host.

Also, this show always makes me hungry AF. I think my new goal in life is going to be becoming a judge on some kind of baking competition show...
Fresh Off the Boat + Thanksgiving = comedy gold. If you're not watching this show, you should be.
Dancing With the Stars is 100% trying to kill me. I was not emotionally prepared to watch Laurie Hernandez and Tom Bergeron cry.
Turns out, I don't really have much to say about Doctor Strange. It was very entertaining (like the Avengers & Iron Man), didn't make me rage about its treatment of women (unlike Ant Man and Guardians of the Galaxy), and didn't feel pointless (unlike Civil War).

It did often feel like a Star Wars rip off (they even used the phrase 'seduced by the dark'), but not in a bad way. I do have to say though, Ve & Hattrick would not have been here for the shitty makeup on the bad guys:

Seriously, you must have a had a huge budget, you couldn't have made that look less fake? Purple was a bad color choice, and it's soooooo obvious that it's just painted on his (clearly still intact) skin. There was one scene where he teared up, and I legitimately wasn't sure if he was supposed to do that, or if his makeup was just making his eyes water.
Saw Doctor Strange tonight. I liked it well enough. Possibly will have more thoughts tomorrow. :)
