Two funny things from the internets for your enjoyment:

:D :D :D

Answer to last Wednesday's song: All of Nothing, by O-Town. [livejournal.com profile] kaitydid33087 got this one right!
Hello new friends!

If anyone else is interested in making some new LJ friends, there's a fall friending meme going on over here:

Some sort of an intro post is here, in case you're more curious about me. And if you want to ask me questions, please feel free! Also, each post on my LJ here has a song quote as a title, and people guess what the song is. I reveal the answers a week later, so don't worry if you don't check back every single day. :D

On that note: The answer to last Thursday's song was A Professional Pirate, from Muppet Treasure Island. Janeea got this one right!
Meme seen on [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets journal that looked like fun!

Put your iPod on shuffle (I don't have an iPod, and iTunes is of THE DEVIL, but I'll use my music player) press play, and the next button. Write the first line of lyrics in the first ten songs to create your poem. Don't lie, the poems actually come out pretty cool...

All the small things
In every heart there is a room
Drink with me to days gone by
Love power, a little love power
Steady as the beating drum
Whatever happened to Saturday night?
I'm counting back the number of the steps
I made it through the wilderness
You can shake an apple off an apple tree
Sit around and watch the tube but nothing's on

And it did come out cool!

Full disclosure: I skipped songs with no lyrics and one track that was from a spoken comedy album (and one song that I've never heard before, and have no idea how it got on my computer, but that totally doesn't count.) Can anyone guess the songs I ended up with? This can be like a bonus quote game, lol.

Answer to last Monday's song: We Can't Stop, by Miley Cyrus. DON'T JUDGE ME.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets!!! As a birthday present, and as mentioned on your LJ, here are my answers to the letter meme that I agreed to do... In January. Oh well, better late than never.

Comment saying you want a letter, and then after I give you one, write about ten things you like which start with that letter.

I was given the letter H! )

Answer to last Monday's song: Because of You, by 98 Degrees. Appropriately enough, [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets got this one right!
Book meme, lovingly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets.

Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback?
Whatever, man. I have some series that I have some of the books in paperback, and some in hardcover. I don't even know if I would be able to tell the difference between a regular and mass market paperback.

Amazon or brick and mortar? Both. Honestly, Amazon only if I know specifically what I want.

Barnes & Noble or Borders? I MISS BORDERS. *sobs* B&N can suck it, they are so pretentious in there.

Bookmark or dog-ear? Bookmark. I have a collection! I don't understand dog-earring, to be perfectly honest with you; how do you know which dog ear you're on? They just keep folding back over, and it seems like it would get confusing.

Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random? I have my books organized by size and type (hardcover vs. paperback) and then kind of by genre. Makes more room on the shelves that way.

Keep, throw away, or sell? Keep, and then sell or donate. Who throws away books? Unless they're moldy or something.

Keep dust jacket or toss it? Keep! So much keep that I used to bring home dust jackets from the library when I worked there to display as 'art' on our walls.

Read with dust jacket or remove it? Depends on the book. Sometimes I end up using them as bookmarks (if the book is slim enough) but sometimes they just get in the way.

Short story or novel? Mostly novels, though when I was a teenager I read sci-fi/fantasy short story collections like it was my JOB.

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket? Harry Potter!

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks? Depends how interesting the book is, but mostly at chapter breaks.

"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"? Once upon a time. I love fairy tales.

Buy or borrow? Buy. I can never seem to remember to give back books I've borrowed, and then I keep them for years, never read them, and feel bad. The exception to this being Abby; I've devoured anything I ever borrowed from her.

New or used? Mainly used, heh. Andrew and I had to buy another bookshelf because we bought so many books at the library and church book sales.

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse? Reviews and recommendations. I can never tell what I'm getting into just by browsing.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger? TIDY, OMFG. I abhor cliffhanger endings, and even endings that I feel are too open. This is possibly why I love the infamous HP Epilogue so much. I always want to know what happened next!

Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading? Nighttime, though right now the answer is 'not nearly as much reading as I should be doing'.

Stand-alone or series? Both!

Favorite series? Ooh, well, I like a lot of series. Harry Potter (JK Rowling), Georgia Nicolson (Louise Rennison), and The Thief (Megan Whalen Turner) being the top three.

Favorite children's book? The Mouse who Didn't Believe in Santa Claus, by Eugene Field (though I guess this is technically a short story. I still read it every Christmas.)

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard? The Fairy Godmother, by Mercedes Lackey.

Favorite books read last year? Sherlock Holmes collection (Arthur Conan Doyle)

Favorite books of all time? How can I possibly answer that? Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Thief, and Holes (Louis Sachar).

Least favorite book you finished last year? Does Frankenstein count if I didn't actually finish it?

What are you reading right now? Dark Whispers (Bruce Coville)

What are you reading next? Either Frozen Heat (Richard Castle) or The Last Hunt (Bruce Coville)

Favorite book to recommend to an eleven-year-old? Can I say The Thief again? And Harry Potter? And also anything by EL Konigsburg.

Favorite book to reread? Everything. I love re-reading books.

Do you ever smell books? Yes, I mean, not generally on purpose, but it has happened. And I can tell you, there are many books in the library that smell like ASS. Most of them are super old and the (usually leather) binding is starting to disintegrate.

Answer to last Wednesday's song: My Life, by Billy Joel. [livejournal.com profile] becofoz got this one right!
Hi everyone! Sorry I didn't do a post last night, I just didn't have anything to say. But we might be losing our internet tonight (we're trying to switch away from Time Warner, and God knows they screwed up our start of service badly enough that I don't have confidence in them not screwing up the end of it too) so I'm going to try to get a post up now.

Although, since I still have nothing to say, it's just going to be a meme )

Answer to last Wednesday's song: Ireland, from Legally Blonde. Abby got this one right, which is as it should be given that she introduced me to that musical in the first place.

I actually didn't do a post last Tuesday either, so there's no answer for yesterday to catch up on. :)
PLACEHOLDER. Need to do a meme, but not sure if I'll get to it before Midnight (remember that night owl thing, and I have stuff to do tonight) so here is this to hold the spot for a meme that you should all check back for. :)

Edit: Yeah, so, I lied. I'll have to do the meme tomorrow, because it's really going to take more effort than I have left to give right now. See you all tomorrow!

Answer to last Tuesday's song: She's Like the Wind, by Patrick Swayze. This is the song that they use all romantically in Dirty Dancing, but he actually wrote it about his horse. [livejournal.com profile] becofoz got this one right!
How long do you think I can keep up posting every day, now that Lent is over? In any case, I'm definitely going to finish the 30 day meme, don't you worry. I also have a letter meme from [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets from like, six months ago (ok, it hasn't really been that long... I think) that I swear I haven't forgotten.

I'm also probably (partly at the request of Janeea) going to keep posting song quotes for you to guys to guess. There's no prize up for grabs right now, but you can still feel smart and satisfied when you know stuff. Like playing Sporcle.

See y'all tomorrow!
Wherein I post the first sentence (or two) from the first entry of every month in 2012.

January (4th): Well, I suppose that I should post this here, for posterity and just in case any of you don't have me friended on Facebook: Andrew proposed!

February (9th): When parents text, or more specifically when my mother texts. (This was preceded by two private entries, but they're private for a reason so I went with the one on the 9th.)

March (1st): HAPPY BIRTHDAY RON WEASLEY!!!

April (5th): A few weeks ago, Andrew and I finally got around to setting up our birdfeeder. (Ahahaha, this was the epic post about Ricky, the asshole squirrel. Anyone new to my journal should check it out, it's pretty amusing. http://leia131.livejournal.com/2012/04/05/)

May (4th): First order of business today: Happy Star Wars Day!

June (3rd): Some quotes from when Ellen was here over Memorial Day Weekend.

July (4th): HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!

August (24th. What the hell was I doing in August?): So, it has been a while. Who wants an update on my life? Andrew and I moved to Winston-Salem, NC about a month ago, which went well aside from Time Warner being utter, complete, and total fucks ups. (That's right, we were busy moving.)

September (19th): Arr! It be Talk Like a Pirate Day, but I don't be havin' the time to make a lengthy post, as I be needin' ter pick me ole mother up from the airrrrrport soon!

October (3rd): I've mentioned this a couple of times, but the hour is finally here! I am going to start doing Monster High doll reviews, mostly because I feel like it.

November (1st): So I entered the MH Halloween photo competition for the first time this year, and even though I didn't place, I'm pretty pleased with my picture.

December (3rd): Been a while since I was on LJ, sorry everyone! I haven't really been super busy, just not really motivated to write anything.

So there you go, my year in review. My number of posts per month definitely increased after I started doing the MH reviews (speaking of which, there should be a new one of those as soon as I get back to NC) so good for them! Keeping me on LJ.
Hellz yeah, bitches and hoes! (Good GOD, it has been a long time since I've said that).

ANYWAY, big ole friending meme going on! Go play!

Friend-of-a-friend friending meme of doom! // Right this way!

Memage!

Mar. 17th, 2011 08:57 am
Oh memes, how I have missed you. Remember back in middle/high school, when we all took quizzes on Quizzilla and bombarded our friends with what crayon we were? Good times.

Anywho, this was stolen from [livejournal.com profile] doctorfumbles, as all good memes are.

You were born during a Waning Gibbous moon

This phase occurs right after a full moon.

- what it says about you -

You love to let people in on the story of how things come together. You know the background of ideas and have a deep understanding of things others just touch the surface of. You can surprise people with your wide variety of knowledge, and they'll remember and appreciate you for it.

What phase was the moon at on your birthday? Find out at Spacefem.com

Most of the movies were guessed, but to satisfy the burning curiosity of those who want to know the rest...

2. Hey don't you tell him to shut up! You'd all be dead now if it weren't for my David! None of you did anything to prevent this! - Independence Day

3. Where would Tina Turner be right now if she'd rolled over and said, "Hit me again, Ike, and put some stank on it!"? Rollin' on the river, that's where she'd be. But she's beyond Thunderdome, because she decided to send a message! Wake up, sisters! There is no such thing as a weaker sex! - Liar Liar

8. This would have been a very good time for me to lie. But truth is a terrible habit. - Don Juan DeMarco

10. Wow. Koo-koo-ka-choo got screwed. - X-Men Origins: Wolverine

And for some reason, 17, 18, and 19 all disappeared, but they were all guessed, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

There are seriously very few foods that are superior to Girl Scout Cookies.

I will post quotes, and those who want to play should guess what movie they are from. For this set of quotes, they will all be Disney movies. And I'm not going to pick easy lines, either.

Alphabet meme ganked from

1. It begins with a list of all 26 letters of the alphabet.
2. Comment with something for me to talk about that starts with one of those letters. Make me babble about anything -- TV shows, actors, actresses, food, be creative. :D
3. One topic per letter. I will cross off letters as topics appear.
4. I will post a new post talking about all 26 topics given to me!

You can pick up to four letters; people will be listed by first name.

A - Aye-Ayes - Janeea
B - Baseball - Carmen
C - Criminal Minds - Carmen
D - Douchebaggery - Janeea

Y - Yggdrasil - Kelli
Z - Zebras - Erin

In a complete departure from my post of last night/this morning, I bring you a completely random meme skanked from [personal profile] schmoo999.

a. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
b. Tag seven people to do the same.

1. I love super heroes, but I cannot read comic books. There is something about the formatting of comic books that I just can't handle, and all the alternate universes drive me crazy. But I love the backstories, and the cartoons I used to watch, and I own a bunch of random episodes of Batman Beyond and X-Men Evolution that I watch when I'm feeling down. And I love all the cheesy awful movies based off them too. Especially The Fantastic Four (1 and 2).

2. I have trouble throwing things away. I still own almost every single toy and book I've ever had, as well as clothes that I haven't worn since I was five. They certainly don't fit, but I can't bear to get rid of them. I form deep sentimental attachments to things, and then they stay around forever. Sometimes I even think of things I've thrown out, and get really sad.

3. I've never been stung by a bee, and I don't actually know if I'm allergic to them. I only think I might be because I'm allergic to lots of other things. Though I did get stung by a wasp once, picking up a fun noodle, so I don't think I am. I don't know quite how bee allergies work.

4. I've always wanted to be a drummer.

5. I read the ends of books before I read the beginnings, almost always. And I'm not ashamed of it. It's what do, it's how I like to read, and none of the people who've told me I'm awful have changed my behavior.

6. I want to be successful in life for many reasons, one of which is so I can lord it over the people who were nasty to me in middle school. When I'm rich and possibly famous, I want them all to see me, and feel bad about how awful they were to me, and look at their own dull uneducated lives and wish they were me.

7. I know next to nothing about British history, and I really want to.

I tag... Janeea, Erin, Matt, Carmen, Andrew, Abby, and Jess, but anyone's free to take or leave this.
