HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets!!! As a birthday present, and as mentioned on your LJ, here are my answers to the letter meme that I agreed to do... In January. Oh well, better late than never.

Comment saying you want a letter, and then after I give you one, write about ten things you like which start with that letter.

At first I was stumped to come up with things I like that started with H, but then I thought about it for a while and came up with a whole bunch. H is really an excellent letter. :) So, and these are in no particular order, 10 things I like that start with H:

1. Hermione Granger. Even though my top favorite HP character is Ron, Hermione is right up there as well. I identify with Hermione, since she's smart, she's academic, and she obsesses over getting A's in school. Besides that, Hermione is loyal and brave and definitely not perfect, especially when dealing with Ron. But I love her, especially in DH when she sticks with and tries to bolster up Harry, even though her own heart is just as broken, and in PoA when she punches Malfoy right in his smug little face, and in OotP when she TOTALLY HAS VOLDEMORT'S PLAN FIGURED OUT but Harry won't listen to her, and even though she's pretty sure it's a trap, she goes with him anyway. Oh Hermione, we'd all be so lost without you.

2. Hercules (the animated Disney movie). I can more or less recite this movie, and to anyone who doesn't like it:
Hades
This movie is hilarious, every time I watch it I catch more jokes (there are SO MANY layers of jokes in Hercules), and it can be enjoyed by kids and adults and everyone in between. The voice work is amazing, the music is wonderful, it's funny and touching and I've never had a bad time while watching it. It also gave us the line, "A life without Meg, even an immortal life, would be empty."

3. Harley Quinn. Harley is so utterly, completely, and totally fucked up, but she's also so amazing. I first fell in love with her when watching Batman, The Animated Series (which is appropriate, since that's where she originated) during an episode where she manages to knock Batman out, tie him up, hang him upside down over a tank of bloodthirsty piranhas, and, most importantly, remove his utility belt from his person. She very nearly kills Batman, only being stopped when Batman appeals to Joker's vanity, and I was impressed. I also like how she may or may not be a lesbian with Poison Ivy, because the two of them could seriously do some damage in Gotham. :D

4. Heath Burns. Y'all got a little preview of Heath in the Abbey/Heath doll set I showed a few pictures of (here) but you should also know that I like him because he's just so goofy and accident prone and adorable and also, his head is on fire. Honestly, I don't have as strong of a connection to him as some of the other things on this list, since he's a more recent love, but I do like him a lot. I also really like the doll version of him, which we'll get to a review about eventually.

5. Heather, my cousin. Heather is two years older than me, which means that I have literally known her my entire life. My mother, in fact, has stated that holding baby Heather was what made her and Dad want to have kids of their own, so Heather is kind of the reason I exist at all. Heather has always been like the older sister I never had, and she and I and Emalee were always together when we were younger. Heather introduced me to Redwall, Tamora Pierce, Mercedes Lackey, and more books and authors than I can count. She was super helpful and amazing with my transition into high school, as well as getting me into theater there. Andrew and I go see her and Matt (her bf) often, and they come here, and we always have a wonderful time. Everyone should be so lucky as to have a cousin like Heather.

6. Hawkeye, Riza. Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye is my very favorite character from FullMetal Alchemist, though it's hard for me to say that (because I love so many of the FMA characters) and even harder to explain why. She's just so... Look, I like people who don't put up with anyone's crap, and that's exactly how Riza is. Except, every so often, she does put up with Roy Mustang's shit, but she always has a damn good reason for it, and it's not just that she's in love with him. I like how she's a soldier and a woman and a lover and a fighter and one of the most formidable people on the show, even though she's not an alchemist. The fact that she's a female soldier is never mentioned, and it's so rare (in my experience) to find a female character who specializes in guns. Basically, Riza Hawkeye doesn't need alchemy to kick your ass, and that's awesome.

7. Heaven's Light/Hellfire, the song from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. There's not a whole lot for me to say about this song, except that it's amazing on every level. I loved it when I was a kid, and most of the meaning went straight over my head, and I still love it now that I'm older and I get it more. Also, the singing is beautiful. And check out the animation in that video. UNF.

8. Han Solo. Star Wars was one of my first fandoms (by which I mean I was totally into it even before I had the internet) and I used to read every single scrap of information about Han, be it in the SW magazine, or the Expanded Universe, or on starwars.com once I had cute little dial-up AOL to use to research him. You may have noticed that my name on here is leia, and that's 100% named after Princess Leia, who got to marry and bang Han Solo. Because Han is awesome, and I like scoundrels and less than totally noble heroes (see the part where I love Ron Weasley) and, as previously mentioned, people who don't take anyone's shit. I love how Han calls Luke on his heroic nonsense on a regular basis, but how, at the same time, he can't help but be heroic himself. And it doesn't hurt that he's super attractive.

9. Hobbits. Even though I didn't care for The Hobbit (the book, haven't seen the movie) I do like Sam, Merry, and Pippin. Especially Sam... God do I love Sam. When he jumps in the water to go with Frodo? And then when he carries Frodo's broke ass up Mt. Doom? OH SAM. Then there's Merry, bravely riding into battle and totally helping Eowyn take out the Witch King, and Pippin with that song, and lighting the big-ass torch... Let's be honest, Hobbits are awesome and Middle Earth would be doomed without them.

10. Heater. You may think this is silly, but Andrew and I bought this space heater a few years ago, and I LOVE IT. It has saved us hundreds of dollars, it prevents me from waking up with an ice cold nose, and it just makes our house so warm and toasty and comfortable. :D

Some honorable mentions: Honey mustard, Hetalia, Hugh Grant, Hair (the musical), and Howard Wolowitz.

Answer to last Monday's song: Because of You, by 98 Degrees. Appropriately enough, [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets got this one right!

One Last Hope from Hercules (I think I mean Hunkules) (Actually, no wait, I don't. Not at all.)

Also, another honorable mention should be the Hairspray movie because we used to watch that, like, 3 times a day our junior year.

Another honorable mention? HASSEE BOUNCE TIME.

Words cannot accurately express how much I love you.

You're a rainbow doughnut fruit. :)

Just realized that I got it wrong... You're actually a flaming doughnut fruit.

And damn, I miss watching all the song parts of Hairspray with you. I miss living with you in general. We should, when we're older and richer, have like, a shared room in each other's houses. I'll make a sign for mine: Abby and Megan's room, no boys allowed!
