Jun. 4th, 2006 01:40 amI really should make a Memories section for all my posts about fanfiction... Maybe tomorrow when I'm not doing anything?
Anyways, Hermione. I have some issues with her in fanfiction.
1. I can't read most HP femmeslash because for some reason IT ALL INVOLVES HERMIONE, and I just see her as 1.straight and 2.with Ron, and I simply don't want to read about her and GinnyLavanderParvatiLunaTonksEtc.
2. I don't know how I feel about people, especially Ron, calling her 'Mione. On the one hand, she really needs a nickname because Hermione just has way too many syllables, and 'Mione is far better than Hermy, (ACK. Though my personal favorite is still Herm-o-ninny.) and actually I kind of like the way it sounds, but on the other hand, would she really allow anyone to call her that? It just doesn't seem to fit her character.
3. Which brings me to point number 3: Maybe I'm just on the wrong sites, but people seem to be incapable of wririntg Ron and/or Hermione in character. Yes, Hermione is a bookish one, but she has another side (see: stealing supplies from Snape, punching Draco, freeing a hippogriff and a Sirius, etc.) and Ron knows about it. So why should he be suprised that she's not a prude? (See: Viktor is more of a "physical being.") And while I don't believe that Hermione is a uptight virgin, nor is she a slut. Is there no happy medium?
Hermione is bossy. She is brilliant and well read and follows most rules. She respects authority and has her own opinon and is a bit of a show-off and loves Ron and Harry. Please, for the love of God and J.K. Rowling, STOP BUTCHERING HERMIONE'S CHARACTER.
Thank You and Goodnight.
