I was reading "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and I found that I can see the slashy undertones that may or may not actually be there. Some proof.

"Lupin's eyes were fixed on Sirius." (Pg.88) This is a very intense scene where they are trying to decide how much to tell Harry. In this moment of indecision and tension, Lupin ends up staring at Sirius.

"...said Lupin quietly, looking away from Sirius at last..." (Pg.89) Firstly, Lupin stares at Sirius for an entire page. Then when he does look away it is "at last" which makes it seem like it was a long look and he stops it reluctantly.

"'Sirius, sit down'... Sirius sank slowly back into his chair" (Pg.90) This is only slashy to me because of a pair of fics I read that have this line in them. The point is that Lupin commands ans Sirius obeys. There is a lot of trust and possibly kinkiness implied. Ok, so it's not really proof but I think this line is very funny. If you are brave and would like to read the fics that make it funny to me, you have but to ask.

"Lupin, who was staying in the house with Sirius..." (Pg.118) This is the biggie. It strikes me as odd that Rowling writes that Lupin is staying "with Sirius." She doesn't write that he is staying in the house, or staying in the house as well, but specifically with Sirius. It seems very slashy to me.

Those are all the slash proofs I have at this time. There may be more later. Some of you will not agree with this, and will say that just because I am looking for these undertones I can find them. I do not care. Theirloveissopossiblycanonandilikeitthatambiguousway.

Some other things I like from this book, not slashy.

"Well, as everyone thinks I'm a mad mass murderer and the Ministry's put a ten-thousand-Galleon price on my head, I can hardy stroll up the street and start handing out leaflets, can I?" (Pg. 94)

"And I'm not a very popular dinner guest with most of the community...It's an occupational hazard of being a werewolf." (Pg. 94-95)

"I'm sure it will be fine."
"And if it's not," said Sirius grimly, "I'll see to Amelia Bones for you..." (Pg.123)

"Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore" (Pg.139)
