Mar. 14th, 2008 08:06 amIf you go to a party and flirt with a guy, how can you tell if it's working? I mean, how do you know if he's not interested and therefore not responding, or if he's just one of those really awkward guys (which is pretty much every guy I'm attracted to) who doesn't realize you're flirting?
I'm willing to bet a lot of you have the same question.

Date: 2008-03-14 01:48 pm (UTC)The least effective thing you can do, in my experience, would be to become too flirty or touchy-feely with him. That's going to confuse him too much. Instead, I think the best route is to just keep popping up and being a friend, be nice, and keep interested. Eventually he may start to try and see you more and that's when you can ask him totally non-threateningly if he has a girlfriend, if he's doing anything "that weekend," etc. etc.
But again, let me tell you: do not be forward about it from the getgo. We geeks are a timid bunch, having been nestled to our mother's bosom for too long. If you are too forward he either starts to obsess about you or get scared and run the other way. It needs to build up, or else he'll never respond.
I hope that helps, despite being written by, for all intensive purposes, a "21-year old dude" who probably couldn't give relationship advice to an asexual amoeba. But I tried.
