You know what I like about Legally Blonde? That Elle can change how she is, without changing who she is. She wears pink, cares about her hair, carries Bruiser around, and is still smart and excells at Harvard.

And I'm really irritated by all these movies that seem to say that you can be either smart and ugly/awkward, or stupid and pretty, but no other combination. And if you want to change your inside, you have to change your outside first.


Grrr.

I agree with you one hundred percent! Why should the smart girls in the movies have to be l'awkward??
Thats one thing about the movie grease that bothers me...sandy changers who she is for danny....LAME!!!!!!

My mom told me that when she was younger, there was this one woman who would walk into her business meetings wearing hot pink suits; all the men watched her, and nobody ever forgot her. That's who I'm gonna be.

With that said... I don't believe in being one of those girls who dyes her hair blonde, tans until she's orange and wears tons of makeup on a daily basis. I don't like pink, and I don't like girls who can't speak intelligently. If none of that were true, I would probably like that movie. Also, she wears fake glasses to look smarter. FAKE. FAKE. FAKE. FAKE. FAKE.

Stupid and pretty vs. Ugly and awkward depends on what kind of beauty you're talking about. The bottom line is that the more advanced of a class I take, the more men there are in it, because lots of girls would rather spend 2 hours on their hair than on their homework.

I agree with your ideal, but I really don't like that movie. She still gets in because she has big boobs, and she still isn't as smart as you and I are.

I can understand why in movies people change physically--because often when changes happen internally, they ARE manifested in the person outwardly; it's also easier for a movie audience to get the point if they have visual cues.
But I agree. I know some extraordinarily stupid and ugly people and some incredibly beautiful smarties.
I strive to have it all. It takes a little time to stay attractive and it takes a little time to stay above the learning curve and really pay attention to my scholarly endeavors, but I think they're both worth it. It will make me unstoppable. Then I shall conquer Vermont and later colonize the rest of the world. You can be the Marquise of Detroit when all is said and done. You like Detroit, right? SURE YOU DO! A stupid person wouldn't know to use the word Marquise and an ugly person couldn't make this adorable face!
