Let me start by saying that I have a weird relationship with season finales. For instance, in six years of watching Buffy I think I only ever watched one, and that was kind of by accident. I usually much preferred to have someone else watch them, and then tell me what happened. I lived in fear of character death and cliffhangers that would never get resolved because the show got cancelled or something.

But I'm a little bit older and wiser now, and so I watch season finales.

Castle:

I have been trying for a week now to put my thoughts about this together in a coherent way, but, still, all I can say is: HOLY FUCKING SHIT. They have been teasing Castle and Beckett getting together, including showing them kiss (always while undercover or something), since like, season two. Maybe even season one, I don't remember. And this whole season has been such a roller coaster of emotions for both of them (and me!) that when I saw the preview of Beckett grabbing Castle I was like, "Son of a bitch, ABC/Castle writers, if this turns out AGAIN not to be what it looks like, and they don't make out like crazed weasels, I am going to EXPLODE."

And then they did. They so, so, so SO DID. Seriously, OMG MAKING OUT. It was exactly what it looked like, not undercover, not a dream, and Beckett LURVES HIM and she almost died and she didn't care about that, or about letting the dude get away, she only cared about Castle. MAH HEART.

Does this mean that the show goes downhill? I know that's what people (writers, directors, producers, etc.) worry about, that the sexual tension keeps things interesting and once you resolve it you're screwed, but I disagree. Firstly, they still have the thing with Beckett's mom to deal with, and people will keep watching to see how that goes. Secondly, they couldn't keep the Castle/Beckett relationship progressing but never getting to the climax (snerk) for much longer without getting really annoying and boring (There's only so much "Will they kiss this week? Confess their love?" viewers can take before they respond with, "No, of course not, because they never do, and I don't care anymore!"). And finally, the show has now opened the door on showing Castle and Beckett in bed together. Naked. Kissing. Maybe even doing that sweaty panty thing TV people do after sex. There is no way in which that does not bring all the viewers to the yard.

In conclusion: YAY OMG YAY KISSING AND SEXING YAY!

Once Upon A Time:

I have a lot less to say about this, because mostly I just have unanswered questions.

Ok, so, everyone remembered that they're really fairy tale characters. That is not at all what I expected to happen, although I did figure Emma would become a believer at the end of season one. I was really digging the parallel story lines, and seeing how everyone got 'translated' to the real world, and I'm a bit disappointed that that is kind of over now. I guess maybe they're not really mutually exclusive? Especially since everyone is still in the real world...

Also, I was kind of into watching these people try to make their lives work in our world. Like, the thing with Mary Margaret and David and him not believing in her was an interesting story, and instead of resolving it, they just remembered who they really are and threw all that angst out the window. Andrew postulated that the curse was keeping them apart, and without it they would have gotten back together/never broken up (like, Mary Margaret would have forgiven David, or he never would have not believed in her in the first place), but it still kind of feels like a cop out to me. On the other hand, I really want them together, and we all knew they were going to be, so I have mixed feelings.

Although, do they remember everything from both realities now? Like, does Snow remember that her prince (in this reality) thought she was a murderer? But he was like, not really the same person, so maybe that's all right anyway? I don't know, and I hope to God they explore some of this next season.

Also: Why did the curse not break all the way? What do they need to do? What is Regina going to do once she gets her magic back? Rumpelstiltskin? Was that his master plan all this time? Where is his son? Can Belle's love still save him, or has that window closed? Is Pinocchio really 'dead'? Who is Henry's father? How did Jefferson get out of Wonderland? Is his name a reference to Jefferson Airplane? How is Emma going to deal with being the same age as her parents? And most importantly, who was feeding Dragon!Maleficent all this time? (Seriously, something that big must have had to eat a lot, and I can't imagine Regina doing it.) SO MANY QUESTIONS.

I can't wait for next season. How will magic work the real world? I'm excited to find out!
