We watched Nik Wallenda walk across the Grand Canyon tonight... I can't decide if he's brave, crazy, stupid, or some combination of the three, but it sure was an interesting event to witness.

The best part was that they had paramedics stationed at the bottom of the canyon, just in case. You may as well have had a hearse down there, because I don't think you can survive a fall of 1500 feet.

Answer to last Sunday's song: Breakfast at Tiffany's, by Deep Blue Something. No one guessed this.

P.S. [livejournal.com profile] letsgokomets is hosting Disney week on her LJ this week, so I'm going to do another round of Disney song quotes here to go along with that. :D

I vote crazy and stupid myself. xD I was also sort of surprised that it was being shown live (it was, wasn't it?), because if stuff did go wrong then Discovery got to be the channel to traumatize a whooooole lot of people at once. lol Maybe that's just me though. Of course, if it wasn't live it wouldn't be terribly interesting, so I guess I just find the whole thing odd.

I would be amused by paramedics too. A hearse would make more sense, there's not really a point to medical attention after that. :P

Yay Disney week! :D

Did he wear a tether on his ankle or not? My mom said that Good Morning America (such a reliable source lol) said 'they' were forcing him to wear one, but then the commercials I kept seeing yesterday said "no tether".

I didn't watch the actual show to see. LOL @ having paramedics. Maybe they thought he'd bounce or they believe the physics in Wile E Coyote cartoons...? ;)

w00000t!!! I love that you're doing a tie-in to my Disney Week!!! (The lyric in your title is from "You Can Fly"...I think!)

It was live (with the standard 5 or 10 second delay) so I figured they had to be pretty confident in his ability to not die.

Then again, thy kept showing the footage of his great-grandfather falling to his death in the 70's, so maybe if you don't show the actual impact (which you wouldn't see from 1500 feet up anyway) it's not as traumatizing?

He did not have any kind of tether or net, which the kept emphasizing during the hour and a half lead up to the actual walk. (TOO MUCH LEAD UP). On GMA a year or so ago he walked across Niagara Falls, and someone other than him said he had to wear a tether.

I mean, I can see having paramedics at either end, because I'm sure his blood pressure and muscles etc. were taxed, but at the bottom of the canyon? Ain't nobody gonna survive that.
