So, I was telling
letsgokomets today that I had an interesting story about how I got my Heath & Abbey Home Ick two pack, and here it is!
You'll have to bear with the pictures though, because I re-dressed Abbey almost as soon as I got her out of the box since I was not a fan of the dress she came in. On the other hand, she now looks ready for a hot date with Heath (pun intended).
I'm assuming that not everyone reading this is as obsessed with MH and Mattel as me, so what you need to know is 1. Heath Burns is a character who has been in the webisodes for quite a while, and fans have been screaming for a doll of him for just as long because he is awesome and hilarious, 2. Abbey, the daughter of the yeti, is his love interest, and 3. Mattel has made approximately 6287643 girl dolls, and like 10 boys... So the boys are always in demand.
Anyway, I went to TRU last Friday, and made a beeline for the MH aisle. The way the aisle is set up the Bratz and other doll stuff is at the end nearest to where you come in, so I looked down it before I go to the MH section and noticed NEON BOXES down there. I (correctly) assumed this to be the Color Me Creepy stuff, which I took this as a good sign, because they didn't have that the last time I was there... And if they had new CAM stuff, they might also have new two pack stuff!
There was a mother and her 10-11 year old daughter at the very end of the aisle, discussing which MH dolls the girl wanted, and which characters she didn't have yet. I checked out the Color Me Creepy stuff while I waited for them to move on out of the way, so I could see the stuff at the end of the MH section. I spotted the Scaris Cleo & Lagoona two pack, which I hadn't seen before, and I took this as another good sign.
AND THEN. The mother and daughter had moved back a little, and down on the very bottom shelf I spotted Heath! (The box is bright yellow, so this wasn't too hard.) I picked up the pack, and almost immediately noticed that Heath's eyes were looking in opposite directions. :( So very much :( Behind Heath was the science two pack, and while I was reaching for that, to examine their eyes, I noticed that there was another Heath pack behind the science one... But the girl noticed at the same time I did, and her hand touched it a fraction of a second behind mine. Here comes the morally dubious part: The girl's mother started to say something, but before she could I went, "it's ok, there are two!" and handed her wonky-eyed Heath. I'm not sure if that was actually wrong, because the chances are that she wouldn't even notice, whereas it would bug me FOREVER, but I still felt kind of bad.
After that I went around the end of the aisle to look at the end cap, where they have all the 13 Wishes dolls (no Gigi though), and I could kind of hear the mother saying either that she wasn't planning to buy the doll today, but just wanted to know which ones her daughter wanted, or that she would buy it today, but the girl couldn't have it until later. I don't actually know, because I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but the moral of the story is that she was planning to buy/give this doll later... And then when I went back to look at the science two pack again (and decide if I could afford it) the other Heath pack was on the shelf. I don't know why, and I hope to God it wasn't because of the eye issues.
In any case, here is what I got!

Aren't they amazing? And isn't Heath's tiny oven mitt just the best?

Sooooo adorable! <3
Please note that this is 100% not the outfit Abbey came in (except the bracelet).
This is the outfit Abbey was wearing.

The shoes are cute, and those spots are actually a really nice light green color, but the dress is a hot mess. I don't like the cut on the top, the fur is flat and lackluster, and that sparkly skirt looks like the worst kind of oh-crap-we-need-some-ice-in-this-outfit afterthought.
But I LOVE her hair, and Heath, and the accessories, so all's well that ends well. :D
No song last Tuesday.

Maybe I'll change mine into Abbey's first fashion pack? I do love her hair like that, the bangs are so cute! But really, I'm just HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEATH. Dear Mattel: can we have an Invisibilly soon, please?

Date: 2013-08-21 07:18 pm (UTC)I LOOOOVE her hair, it looks like candy! And it's sufficiently different from my other Abbey's that I don't feel bad having bought another one, heh.
Yeah, the dress looks good in the promo pics, and it isn't even too bad when she has her little Home Ick apron over it, but on its own... I just don't know what they were thinking with that overskirt. (Well, actually I do, and it was, "add more sparkles and jagged 'ice' lines, quick!")
