This post is two days overdue. Deal with it, I'm getting married in a little over a month, and I have very busy weekends. Don't make me go Bridezilla on you, I'll do it.

Anyway,
This week's challenge was to take an extremely ugly men's suit, and using mainly the fabric from the suit, make it into something less heinous. The twist was that Sandhya, as last week's winner, got to decide who got which suit to work with. She claims she genuinely tried to match people up with a color or suit that she thought they would pick for themselves, but two or three of the designers (Hernan) spent the entire show complaining about the suit they were given and insisting that Sandhya had done it to spite them. I personally believe Sandhya, because I like her, but even if she did give you a suit to spite you, Hernan, because she (quite justifiably) doesn't like you... This is a competition. She had every right to give everyone their worst nightmare of a suit, because she wants to win. MAKE IT WORK, BITCHES.

I'll try to see if I can find pictures of which suit each designer started with, because of course the PR website doesn't have them on the Rate the Runway slides. Because that would make too much sense.

Update: This is the only picture of the suits on the website:

At least you can get the idea.

The top looks were Alexander, Kini, and Amanda.

Alexander:

Sidebar: I think Alexander's model is absolutely gorgeous, and I love her makeup in this shot. The outfit is nice, a little boring, but very well made. I like the skirt, and I think  the neckline of the top was inspired by the wide lapel on the original suit.

Kini:

How great is this? I personally like Kini's look more than Amanda's, but I think Amanda's was more creatively and impressively made. Anyway, Kini is a joy, and this dress is amazing. It looks like it was made out of a suit, but in the best possible way. I love the shoulders and the hip cutouts, and the way the stripes match up exactly in the front of the skirt.

Amanda:

Amanda won, which I think was fair. This look grew on me the more I looked at it, and it had GREAT movement when it came down the runway. It's very Amanda/hippie chic, and the judges particularly liked that she turned her fabric inside out, and that she made all that fringe herself.

The bottom looks were Kristine, Sean, and Hernan.

Kristine:

This isn't one of Kristine's best looks, and it doesn't help that the suit fabric she had was AWFUL (though I can't recall her complaining about it). The judges thought it had too much embellishment on top, and they didn't understand the organza on the legs. It's kinda ugly, but it certainly wasn't anything to eliminate her over and she wasn't even in the bottom two.

Sean:

Honestly, Sean should just be glad that Hernan's look was worse than his. I kind of liked the top (probably because it was better than what he had before, which was the same as the skirt) but the judges said it looked like she was wrapped in bandages. I really hate that skirt, and Sean got a little sassy with the judges when they called him out on it being unfinished and frayed. Sure you did it on purpose, Sean, but that doesn't mean you should have. Also, it's see through.

Hernan:

Oy, Hernan. He got so hung up on feeling slighted by Sandhya that he wasn't able to focus on designing something worthwhile. He spent more time complaining about his fabric than sewing, and it showed. He also refused to listen to Tim telling him that the vinyl he picked as his supplemental fabric was too stiff and wasn't going to drape the way he wanted it to. Nina said it looked like Super Vagina, and she's 100% correct. Hernan was sent home over this mess, about two weeks later than he should have been, and I won't miss him.
