Second post of the day!

This week's challenge: Pick two animals from the animal place they visited, and create a hybrid creature. Some of the designers were... A LOT better at this than others.

The top looks were Sasha, Cig, and Damien.

Sasha, Bobcat and Owl:

Sasha, bless her, is not too bright. She always come off as kind of ditzy/not all together all together, and some truly stupid things come out of her mouth. (She is also, if you recall, the one who said she had never used a mold before...) And yet, she TOTALLY got this challenge, and most of her other looks have also been good. This was definitely my favorite hybrid this week, and even though she hated that she didn't do anything to the legs but leggings, it doesn't matter. The judges weren't looking at the legs, and I even think leaving them simple works with the overall look.

This is one of the very few looks this week that was successful in instantly conveying both animals. I can see the cat, I can see the owl, and I can see the amazing sculpting. I wish this one had won.

Cig, Armadillo and Alligator:

This is very well done, and the two animals he chose lend themselves easily to being combined, but it feels much more alligator than armadillo to me.

The judges really liked the broad shoulder/neck area, but Cig barely had any screen time this week so I figured he probably wan't going to win.

Damien, Owl and Coatimundi:

Again, I feel like this is mostly owl and only slightly coatimundi. I know the judges were really impressed with the seamless blending he did of the fur and the feathers, so he may have won over Sasha because of his superior technical abilities. The model was also, as she is in this picture, selling this look HARD. She was amazing.

I guess I can see more coatimundi in the face there. Anyway, this look is pretty cool, and Damien won.

The bottom looks were Keaghlan, Stella, and Doc.

Keaghlan, Eurasian Lynx and Kinkajou:

I dunno, I thought this was kind of cute, and didn't really deserve to be in the bottom. The "escaped medical experiment" concept is tacked on, but whatever.

I think the judges thought it was too plain? They weren't crazy about the eyes either, but it definitely wasn't the worst look and Keaghlan was safe. I still can't pronounce her name and I still hate her blue eyebrows, but she's safe nonetheless.

Stella, Kinkajou and Serval Wildcat:

Stella had issues with this challenge. She re-did her sculpt twice and still didn't like it, and her bodysuit ended up being a totally different skin color than the face. The judges thought it was too cartoon-y, and they didn't like the shape of the face.

I actually don't hate it, even though the head is kind of blobby, and Stella has previously been one of the stronger competitors. I didn't want to see her go home, and she didn't.

Doc, Bald Eagle and Squirrel Monkey:

I knew as soon as I saw this that Doc was going to be out. He's been in the bottom A LOT, and there's nothing good I can say about this. His concept was 'flying monkey' but it just looks like a guy with bird feet in an aviator costume. I'm not sure what went wrong, but it went REALLY wrong.

...What IS this? It's badly done, and sloppy and crooked and the paint job is absolutely horrendous. It looks less like a monkey and more like a burn victim. Doc went out, and I think that was best for everyone.
