So, I was kind of underwhelmed by last week's Face Off, and I didn't both making a post about it. I mean, I can, if you guys really want, but I think I'm just going to skip it and do this past Tuesday's show.

This was a body painting challenge, which (if I recall correctly) they haven't done on Face Off since like, season three.

The challenge was to paint two models, one male and one female, as a 'queen bee' and her male companion. Each team of two selected an insect, along with their accompanying habitat, for inspiration.

Jamie & Emily, Honey Bee:

I think this is AMAZING in every possible way, and I don't know how they didn't win. The painting is just so amazing, and they even worked in a honeycomb pattern on the female model. I just love it. I also think it was wise of them not to try to paint the models to looks exactly like a honey bee, but instead apply the overall pattern of a honey bee to a human form.

Julian & Logan, Cuckoo Wasp:

This team was given the suggestion by one of the pros to use the male model as the thorax of the queen insect, which the judges really loved; they were especially fond of using the male model's arm as the insect's leg. This wasn't my favorite look, but it is impressive and well done. Logan was named the winner, but I can't remember which part of this he was responsible for.

Kelly & Ben, European Hornet:

Ben was super irritating this week; he wanted to do a camo makeup, and he wasn't taking no for an answer. While the camo makeup is pretty good, the judges didn't think it went together with the queen (because it doesn't). They also hated the 'muzzle' markings on the queen's face. I agree; the colors of the queen are cool, but her face is just off. And if the male model is supposed to be part of the background, she shouldn't be touching him like that.

Rob & Adam, Ladybug:

This was another team that had an idea and couldn't be swayed from it. They wanted the male model to be larva, and no matter how many people told them not to do that, they did it anyway. The judges didn't know it was larva, and they didn't like his paint job, but what they really hated and what pushed this to be the losing look was the female model's face. They really, REALLY hated the paint on her face. I can see how the designers were trying to make it look like a real ladybug's head looks, but it didn't work. This goes back to not literally painting the bug's pattern on a person, but working with human anatomy and the overall colors and look of the bug. Rob was eliminated.
