So, I've been watching a lot of Are You Afraid of the Dark? recently (because 1. it was/is my absolute favorite show, and 2. thanks to the internet, I can) and I'm pleased to report that most episodes (from the original run, I still dislike the two reboot seasons) hold up very well. The 90's fashion, not so much, but it does make me very nostalgic.

I've seen things like a very fine motorcycle shaped phone, a rainbow of scrunchies and floppy boys' haircuts, and Danny Cooksey wearing not one, but two layers of flannel:

At least he doesn't have his Salute Your Shorts mullet?

The other thing I've realized is that the 'strange' way a lot of the characters pronounce words, which I noticed but could never quite put my finger on as a kid, is due to the fact that 95% of the actors on the show are Canadian.

My favorite episode remains Watchers Woods, and not just because Jewel Staite is in it. Anyone else out there a fan? Or remember any episodes that particularly scared you? Have any favorite or stories you'd like to share? I once watched the one where a witch turns girls into wolves (not particularly scary to me, even at the time) with a friend in middle school who got so scared she had to go home. Oops. (The episode is 'The Tale of the Mystical Mirror', in case you're wondering, featuring Laura Bertram).

I loooooooooooooooved this show, used to rush home from school to watch. I wish they'd show reruns on TV again. (Yeah I know...internet...but I just have this ~thing about watching TV shows on the internet, don't ask, it's completely irrational and I'm weird I know.) I DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS EVER A REBOOT THOUGH. Why do thy have to ruin everything??? And holy cow, Danny Cooksey, there's a blast from the past. I always liked Joanna Garcia's character & remember Rachel Blanchard being one of the kids too. I loved the eps "The Tale of the Lonely Ghost" & "The Tale of the Prom Queen" especially.

They were showing random episodes on The Splat all last week, which is what made me seek them out online. So it is still on TV sometimes! I also discovered that the first 5 seasons (aka the original run) are available on Amazon on DVD for a very reasonable price.

The reboot (my word) started only four years after the original finished, with all new kids except Tucker (carrying on Gary's legacy or something) but the episodes just weren't as good. I've only seen a handful of them.

They just showed the Prom Queen one, and I was so disappointed that Andrew figured out the twist before they got to them end. I remember that one blowing my mind as a kid.

Sorry, The Splat is like, a programming block on some other channel. (TeenNick, according to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Splat)

So many of the episodes are about ghosts, it's crazy.
