leia131So I just got back from my ecology lab , and today we were walking about cemetaries recording when people were born and when they died so we can make life tables. (Ecology thing, don't ask, the point is I just spent 2+ hours in cemetaries.)
And so I was thinking, as were were traipsing over these people's graves, real people, who really lived, that you live your life, and you go places and you do things and you lie and you cheat and you are honorable and you save people and you do all the things that humans do, and then all you leave behind is this one stone. Your whole life comes down to just this one single stone, in some cemetary, somewhere.
I mean, that's depressing enough, but then a lot of the stones are worn so much that they're illigible, or broken, or covered in moss, and it's just not fair. These people are gone now, completely erased, not even their name on a hunk of granite is left, and it's just not right. They should be remembered.
They were alive, and they did things, and they fought and laughed and cooked and played and they don't deserve to forgotten.
Goddamn it.
P.S. I felt so...sacreligious. I don't want to be haunted. I respect your graves.
