Why is watching movies on TV so much better than watching them on video?

I'm watching Attack of the Clones right now, even though I own it on tape and could watch it without commercials whenever I want, and it's just... so much more satisfying.

Is this just me, or does anyone else do/feel this?

P.S. I quite enjoy this movie, but it's really very bad.

I'm the same way. I think that's part of the reason I don't own a DVD player and I own - I think - 5 movies? I don't even know where they are. I've never watched them. The only time I watch movies is when they're on TV. I'm not a big movie watcher to begin with, though.

That's probably the most cost efficient way to be. :)

I own so many movies, and I never watch them. Unless they're on TV. Which is awful.

I do it ALL the time. My mother thinks I'm insane for it. I don't know why. Maybe it's the freedom that I could change the channel any time I want without having to hit the "Input" button.

I think that's a big part of it. You're not "settling down to watch a movie," you're just channel surfing and happened to hit on this, and you can watch it for a while, and then leave, and not feel bad about giving up on something.

Oh pshaw! Attack of the Clones isn't bad. Well it is...but think about the amazingness we see! And I don't just mean the obvious like Yoda with a lightsaber! But we see Jedi in a new role: Investigators. That's awesome.

Maybe its just me, but that right there makes it pretty darn cool...

The acting is bad, I'll give you that. I mean... "I killed them....all of them." He would have seemed more honest if he'd have laughed. I mean come on. And Natalie Portman's only saving grace was the fact that her horrible acting was easy to ignore with those awesomely hot outfits.

Yay Leia-buns.

Obi Wan, as usual, was kickass.

I really just wanted a reason to rant about Star Wars. Woot!

Oh, I love watching it. I don't think the plot is bad, just the acting and some of the lines.

And Yoda is never bad, nor Obi-Wan. Natalie Portman is usually fantastic, but for some reason in this movie she's just... not.

I'm not even going to go into Hayden Christensen, because he's really pretty, and I like him a lot, but aside from anger, his acting is quite bad.

I think watching movies on tv is better than popping in the dvd simply because you stumble upon the movie. It's never planned which in my opinion always cheers a person up more, and there's built in snack breaks.

I agree on both counts. I sometimes like to have commericals when I can go pee or eat something without having to locate the remote and the pause button.

Plus it's like a game: can I make a sandwich before the movie's back on?

No, you definitely aren't the only one. I do that with a lot of my movies and TV shows on DVD, too.

I think it because you have it, so you'll forget about it, but by coincidence, you're sitting at your TV and it's on, you go, "oh hey, let's watch this!" *shrug*
