It bothers me, and probably a great deal more than it should, that, at least in my way of speaking, the words 'adolescence' and 'adolescents' are pronounced exactly the same.

they're only pronounced the same way in VT, every where else people enunciate the "t" in adolescents.

Yeah, that's why I said it was in my way of speaking. I think my teacher must be from VT too, because she does it as well, and that's when it gets confusing.

Yeah, unless I am talking really fast, one can hear the t. But I understand the issue, I get irritated when there are words that sound exactly the same and really shouldn't.

It's really confusing in class, cause I never know which one she means until she finishes her sentence, and then I can get it from context. But when taking notes, waiting for context is wasting valuable time! Don't they know that we discriminate against T's in VT?
