I had sushi for the first time tonight! Real, honest to goodness raw fish. And it was really really good. Though I do think the sticky rice makes it. It wasn't nearly as icky as I expected, and it doesn't even really taste that much like fish. I had shrimp, tuna, and mackrel (I think) and kind of want to try other kinds now...



So, thank you Andrew. Cause it was yummy!

My personal favorite is unagi (eel). I had it once with just the right amount of ginger and it was fantastic. Now, if you plan to continue your exploration of Japanese sea cuisine, you need to try both taki (baby octopus) and shrimp balls, which are basically just their version of Cheetos but... made of shrimp meal.

Yay Megan! My favorites are anything with salmon, shrimp tempura (which is crunchy and cooked) and spicy tuna, I don't like eel much, but Nate loves it in a dragon roll. To be honest the only thing I have had trouble swallowing are the ones with cream cheese. Is there a good sushi place in Burlington? Not that I trust you Vermonters with seafood. Miss you terribly!

I actually had tempura also, and it was similiarly delicious.

We were to Sakura Bana, which I took to be a good place, because there were Japanese people, who did not work there, eating there. I think that's a good sign.

Woot! I love me some sushi! I will say, eel is FANTASTIC and if you find a black dragon roll anywhere get it. They're my favorite. December = you + me + Tokyo House. Damn straight!

My favorite is salmon, but make sure to try the caviar ones too - the orange roll would be a good one to try first (it's basically a California roll).

Oh, and Jim's and my favorite is the salmon cream cheese roll; he has his with smoked salmon and I take mine with fresh.

Yay, another sushi lover! I like my vegetarian ones, but I hear eel and salmon are really good.

Oh! You should definitely try the Philadelphia Roll too. That has ~CREAM CHEESE~ (and smoked salmon? I think, I can't remember). But cream cheese is REALLY GOOD. At least to me, XD.

I think I've had some veggie ones before, which I did enjoy, but it was a new thing for there to be raw fish involved. I was scared, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined.

Others have agreed with you about the eel. Clearly I need to look into that.

There is avocado in California rolls, along with cucumber and crab (I think), there is also avocado on the outside of a dragon, which has eel and cucumber and is a favorite of Nate's, though not mine. He knows more about it that me, and I can send him over to this to give suggestions if you wish.
