So I entered the MH Halloween photo competition for the first time this year, and even though I didn't place, I'm pretty pleased with my picture. Anyway, I wanted to (once the competition was over) post the picture here and give a little commentary on it. I didn't say anything about it over on the community because I wanted it to be able to stand on its own, but I do have things I want interested parties to know. :)
My entry, Costume Contest.

Ok. So here we have Clawdeen as Little Red Riding Hood, Operetta as Ariel, Clawd as a bride, Robecca as Toralei, and Nefera as... well, a masquerade girl. Draculaura on the far left is the judge.
Fun Facts:
-The 'trophy' Draculaura is holding is actually a piece from my chess set.
-I picked that Draculaura to be the judge because of the position her hands are in. It kind of looked like she was stroking her chin and thinking/deciding who to give the trophy to.
-Both Clawd and Nefera are wearing dresses that came off Ariel dolls, so technically three of the five costumed people are dressed as Ariel.
-Operetta is holding a dinglehopper that I 'made' by cutting the purple part off the fork that came with Frankie's most recent fashion pack.
-Clawd's veil is made from a bit of ribbon I got at the Forsyth County Bridal Show.
-Nefera's dress is pinned in the back to keep it on her.
-The witch's hat was originally too low to see in the shot, so I propped it up on a bowl.
The original idea I had for a photo shoot was "The Bride of Frankie Stein", where I was going to put my basic Frankie in something resembling a tuxedo, and her girlfriend, basic Ghoulia, in Ariel's wedding dress. Then I decided that maybe that wasn't Halloween-y enough, plus the wedding dress was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big for a normal sized MH girl. However, it fit on Clawd like a GLOVE, (and the colors matched his hat) so I ran with that and did costumes.
I set them up in front of some of my Halloween decorations, and took a few pics. I then decided that there was too much space in front of them, so I added the orange and black leaves and took this picture, and here we are!
I was pretty bummed to not place, but the pictures that did were all really great. I hope all the winners get to pick a doll they really want! (Especially my new LJ friend
invisagoth!)
The next Ghouls Rule review is coming, I promise, I just haven't gotten there yet. Two people voted in my poll, so there's a tie right now between GR Frankie and GR Cleo. If you have strong feelings about that, go vote!

Date: 2012-11-03 08:06 am (UTC)I like the directors commentary! I've been planning on doing something similar with that myself on my journal. :3 I think it will be fun to break down how the set came about.
I thought your picture was really cute! I love Clawd, he's totally fabulous! xD I think it's pretty awesome that you have 3 Ariel outfits in there too. hehe
