First of all, I did not manage to post this before Castle, but I did manage to survive the episode in one piece. Still, IT WAS VERY STRESSFUL, OMG, THIS SHOW HAS REALLY EXCELLENT WRITERS.

Your childhood fears.

Oh man, this is a tough one. I was afraid of a multitude of things as a child, and I'm still afraid of most of them. For the most part, this is legit; I was exposed to some scary shit as a kid that has, literally, scarred me for life.

But what I'm going to go with here is ET, because the general consensus of everyone else on the planet (except Professor Bozzone, and this is one of the reasons I loved her) that that movie is not only not scary, but is a happy family film. I disagree.

I don't know, there is just something about that creepy little motherfucker than is deeply unsettling to me. I don't like his voice, I don't like the way he looks, I don't like the way he moves, and that one scene where he hides in the closet among the stuffed animals is downright terrifying.

My parents always used to tell me that when I got older, I would get over this fear of ET and watch the movie and laugh at myself, being like, "I was scared of this? LOL." Let me tell you, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. We watched the movie in Spanish class Freshman year of high school, and my mom had to talk to the teacher about it because it was giving me nightmares. (I have a recurring one where ET is chasing me with a sledgehammer. I don't know where that came from, but it's scary, let me tell you what.) I just have a very negative reaction to ET, and I don't think it's ever going to go away. Not even hearing him say, "ET telefono mi casa," which is HILARIOUS, was enough to cure it.

I don't get that sick feeling in my stomach when I see ET anymore, but I still don't like him, and I'm still scared of him. I haven't even seen WALL-E because something about him reminds me of ET.

On the other hand, I also had nightmares for years about Ghostbusters. I both got over that and love those movies now, so maybe there is hope after all.

I can see where you see the ET Wall-E similarities! I think they have a similar body shape, though at least Wall-E is just a cute robot. I don't really remember ET because I only watched it once when I was really little, but at the very least I never thought he was cute. lol If you think about an alien hiding in your closet with your toys as a kid, it isn't actually the most comforting thought. xD

I know! I was always extremely creeped out by living toys, living things hiding in my toys, etc. I couldn't even watch Small Soldiers, seriously. :)

I FUCKING HATE ET. I have never liked that movie and I find nothing heartwarming about it. For some reason, ET in the sweatshirt is, like, the creepiest part of the film.

Also, I know Wall-E bears a slight resemblance to him in body type, but he doesn't make creepy noises, does not have those long fingers or gross skin, or mouth, and is actually incredibly sweet. I think you would probably love Wall-E. Very well done film.

This is why we are friends; we agree about the most important things in life.

I will probably watch Wall-E eventually, since it's the only Pixar movie I haven't seen (well, I haven't seen Cars 2, but that hardly counts) and it's about environmentalism, so you know. Plus, I think Eve is pretty cute.
