30 Day Meme Day 13:


Foods you love and foods you hate:

Love

-Chocolate, peanuts, and any combination thereof. Chocolate covered peanuts, Butterfingers, Reese's, Peanut Butter Patties, and almost anything containing chocolate or peanuts by themselves.

-Sweet potatoes. Have you ever had purple sweet potatoes? You should.

-Cheese, especially goat cheese; I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive. Also Vermont cheddar.

-Chicken. There's hardly been a chicken dish I met that I didn't like, unless it was spicy. And even then I can sometimes make exceptions.

-Avocados. I discovered these beauties not that long ago, and I'm so glad that I did.


Hate

-Bananas. I don't like the taste, the texture, or that stringy quality they have.

-Mint. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on the entire earth who doesn't like mint, but I really really don't. The only mint things I ever eat are Thin Mints and light green Tic-Tacs. Keep your mint out of my ice cream, my Oreos, and my milk shakes, thank you.

-Spicy things. Andrew is all over hot sauce and curry and stuff like that, and I want no part of it.

-Raisins, Why do people insist on ruining perfectly good cookies and breads with raisins? They taste awful, and they're really just humiliated grapes.

-Cilantro. I don't think it tastes like soap, exactly, I just think it tastes bad.



Answer to last Monday's song: Call me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepson. I was worried for a while that no one was going to guess this, the most played song of the summer, but then Ellen came through! Which is appropriate, since she introduced me to this song in the first place. :)

First of all, I always knew I liked your dad, even though he used to scare me.

Secondly, how could I resist a Benny and Joon reference when that movie justified my hatred of raisins so beautifully?

My best high school memories are movie nights, and that one summer that I basically spent an entire week at your house, with you and me and Hannah playing hearts all day and hanging out by the pool but rarely actually swimming. :)

Chocolate and peanuts in some form are always wonderful! Totally one of my favorites too. :D I also loooooove avacado, and I never tried it until I was in college!

I love all the stuff on your dislike list though with the exception of raisins. I'm pretty indifferent about raisins. xD

There were several things that I had never had until I went to college (pepperoni, ketchup) but avocados came to me evern later than that. It's tragic how many years I could have been eating them and didn't know how amazing they were!

I don't like mint either! In other weird news...I don't like caramel and feel like I'm the only person on the planet who doesn't.

Yay for fellow mint haters! I do like caramel, but I would never try to convince you to. Also, I like reading about the things you eat/are craving, because I usually have to Google them to find out what they are, and then I learn something new. :)

Well, I've had hot cross buns, but I had no idea there was a chocolate variety (and I'm assuming they're somewhat different from the ones I've had, which were full of raisins). I can't remember the name but there was some specific kind of Popsicle/frozen treat that you were craving that I had never heard of. I also (un-food related) learned that White Night is a thing. Somehow no one's ever told me about that before.

Oh, chocolate hot cross buns are full of chocolate (and none of those disgusting raisins :P) - they are delicious!

White Night is a new thing to me too. This was the first year it was in Melbourne. I'd never heard of it before then.

Raisins are the work of Satan. My grandma used to give me those little boxes of them for a snack when I was a kid & I haaaaaaated them, so I'd put the boxes in her old purses that she let me play with. She'd go to clean them out & find handfuls of boxes of raisins lol.

I know, right? My agriculture class in grad school went on a farm tour, and the last place we went specialized in tobacco and purple sweet potatoes. I was like, "WAT" and then of course I had to buy some. They don't really taste that different, but they have a slightly creamier texture, and of course they're a stunning color.

LOL at the raisin hiding. I used to hide the vitamins my mother gave me in the grill of my dollhouse. I don't think she ever found them though...
