Can we talk about Arrow? Does anyone else even watch this show?


I seriously love this show. Like, I knew next to nothing about Green Arrow before, but it's still super enjoyable. It's also (I assume) awesome for Green Arrow fans, because it's a really unique twist on the characters and story (which I have discerned by comparing events on the show to what Wikipedia tells me about Green Arrow in the comics.)

The writing is great, the acting is great, everything about this freaking show is great. It's so steeped in comic book-ness, but it still manages to surprise me. I look forward to it every week, and it's just a really exciting hour of television.

But the thing I love most about this show is the female characters. I want to be Felicity Smoak when I grow up, and Mckenna and Thea and Laurel and Moira and even batshit crazy!Helena are all so kickass in their own ways. I appreciate so much that the women on this show run the gamut of awesomeness, and that not everyone has to literally be able to kill you with their bare hands to be wonderful. There are all kinds of amazing women, all complicated (and everyone, EVERYONE on this show is so INCREDIBLY screwed up, I LOVE IT, it's so interesting!) and they all somehow manage to do it with their clothes on.

Although I'll miss her, I didn't even mind how they managed to get Mckenna out of the romantic picture this week (I was swearing vengeance on their heads if she was really died though, seriously) so that Oliver can end up with his magically magical one true magical love Laurel. I sincerely hope Laurel gets to be Black Canary however, just because the only super heroine we've even kind of had was crazy!Helena, so it would be nice to see her get to do that. She's already shown herself to be pretty badass in the self-defense department.

Finally, can we discuss how incredibly bad Oliver is at keeping his identity secret? It seems like someone new is in on it every week.


P.S. Is anyone else kind of in love with Roy? Just me then? Ok. LOVING his plot line.


Answer to last Wednesday's song: Jack and Diane, by John Cougar/John Cougar Mellencamp/John Mellencamp. Fun fact: Andrew asked me not too long ago if Taylor Swift had dated John Mellencamp. (He meant John Mayer, but I couldn't stop laughing long enough to correct him.)

I've never seen the show but it sounds really interesting! I'm sort of terrible about finding new shows on tv. xD I do watch a fair amount of stuff now, but for years we didn't have tv because we lived too remotely (and then I'd work out in the field for big parts of the year even when we did) so we're still kind of not used to it. heh

I knew that I knew that song but I just couldn't place it! I gave in and googled for it, now I have that song in my head and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of it. lol

It's on the WB, which is not a channel I typically watch, and I can't even remember how we heard about it ourselves, to be honest. If you like comics stuff, especially Batman (he's seriously like a green version of Batman sometimes) you should definitely check it out.

I love Arrow! This week and last just killed me with the fight choreography/stunts. I recommend different camera angles because it was actually distracting to me the past two weeks. I like her character, but the actress that plays Helena specifically seems too slow in fight scenes sometimes, and in other scenes it was noticeable the little extra flare moves that were completely unnecessary (i.e. Roy doing that wall spin move when rescuing Thea).

How long is it going to take for Roy and Oliver to finally meet?!? It's killing me. But then that would just be one more person to find out the Hood's identity. It is getting pretty ridiculous how many people know. I expect the next time the Hood talks to Laurel on the phone he'll forget to use his voice modulator and she'll be all, "Oliver? Is this a prank? Because it's not funny." And he'll be all, "Uhh, Laurel? Can we talk? Meet me in the basement oh my new club/lair." I mean really. I'm sure the writing will be a lot better for when she does eventually find out though. I hope she becomes Black Canary and rescues Oliver before he is forced to show his crazy fighting skills though. I think the role reversal would work well for that.

I'm glad I now know someone else who watches this show :)

...Ok, I totally tune out almost all action sequences (in all media, not just Arrow) so I'll have to take your word for most of that. However, Roy was CLEARLY doing flippy stuff just to show off for Thea because he is in LURVE with her. :D (BTW, How akwa-dorable was he, being all afraid to get a shot?)

Did you see how badass she was in that one episode where the guys broke into her apartment, and she almost got away except for that surprise taser? She's got the seed (fledgeling?) of BC in her already.
