Guys, I will never get tired of talking about Monster High. I just thought you should know that.
Anyway,
Waaaaay back at Christmas, Andrew bought me the werewolf/dragon CAM, with the intention of buying the siren CAM add-on pack to go with it, so I could have a Monster High mermaid. This was a good plan, except that he was never able to find the siren add-on... until last night.
Here is a MH mermaid! Doing a stately backstroke on the floor, as you do.

Andrew specifically bought the werewolf/dragon CAM because the skin tone of the werewolf torso matched that of the siren limbs the best... And so of course I decided that the tail and wig looked better on the dragon girl. Oops. Seriously though, the wig that came with her looked like shit with her face, but this one looks awesome.

Question: Is it ironic that the only MH doll I have that can stand on her own is the one with a fin? It annoys me that she can't bend at the waist (all my other mermaid dolls are sitting on the mantle, and she can't join them) but it is cool that the bottom of her fin can act as a stand. I also really prefer this wig to the one she came with, even though after I brushed it (and it seriously needed that brushing) it went all poofy.
It also annoys me that Mattel has made the CAM arms and hands incompatible with regular MH girls. Lagoona would look so cool with the pink finned arms that I have now. *pouts*
Then today we went to Target, just because I like to look for dolls, and I came home with this beauty, who I hadn't even really planned on getting.

She definitely, as befits her character, has the most badass and roller derby looking outfit. There are spikes every damn where, and it is awesome. I also love how her ears go through her helmet.

And yet, despite the outfit's clear fierceness, her makeup, expression, and hair style/color all make her look very sweet and gentle. Look at her, she looks like she's about to shyly offer you homemade cookies, and then blush when you compliment them.

She looks especially soft if you take the roller skates and knee pads out of the equation. The face and hair are totally at odds with the hardcore outfit. It will be interesting to see her wearing something else.
I'm planning a more thorough review of the bits and pieces of the Roller Maze line that I own at some point. Never fear!
Answer to last Saturday's song: Pinball Wizard, version I have is The Who. Ellen gets two points for this, and Janeea one for correctly noting that it could also be sung by Elton John.

Date: 2013-03-24 04:28 am (UTC)You can't get your dolls to stand on their own? I never use stands in pictures because I can get them to stand so easily. I actually had one of my Frankies free standing on my desk this summer in my tent for a week before she fell over when I finally bumped the desk too hard. It takes a bit of fiddling to get them properly balanced, but their ability to stand is one of the many things I love about them.
I really like the dragon CAM girl with the Siren parts! I think it's a good fit. :3
Clawdeen does look really soft! I haven't seen her yet, she's quite the cutie. :3

Date: 2013-03-24 06:52 pm (UTC)Maybe I haven't been trying hard enough? I know other people have gotten them to stand alone, but I've never had good luck with that. Then again, everything in this house shakes when you walk by, so I don't know how long they'd stay standing...

Date: 2013-03-24 10:44 pm (UTC)To get them to stand I usually spread their feet a bit, I can't get them to stand if their feet are together. Then I'll adjust their arms and posture if they look to be leaning in any one direction. It's harder to get girls with a heavy head of hair to stand because that throws off their center of balance. n_n'

Date: 2013-03-24 08:23 pm (UTC)I love RM Clawdeen, too. I especially love the spikes, the shade of purple they used in her hair & the glittery eye shadow. Congrats on finding her in the store...I've yet to see her in a store (I broke down & bought mine off of Amazon lol)!!!

Date: 2013-03-24 09:11 pm (UTC)I had actually forgotten both that she was out and that I wanted her... Then I saw her on the shelf and was super glad that the ONE they had had a good face. She's the first Roller Maze doll I've actually bought in a store, heh.
