And now, your regularly scheduled Face Off liveblog!

-Roy wants to win this week, and Eddie wants to step it up. Good luck with that, boys.

-They are now at an absolutely beautiful gothic revival church. Are we going to be doing angels?

-Alas, no, the seven remaining contestants are here to create 'a forbidding character that embodies one of the seven deadly sins.' This could be awesome, though I think angels would have been cool too.

-Each sin is traditionally associated with a color, I guess, and each contestant gets to pick an apple (how apropos) of that color and then they have to make that sin. Hattrick says that they should embody the sin without being too obvious, and they must use the color that goes with their sin in their designs. I totally saw that coming.

-Frank has orange gluttony, and he's already picturing fat suits, Laney has yellow greed, and wants to do someone boiling in oil (terrifying) with a money dress. This is both cool and really unsettling.

-Tate got light blue sloth, and he said something about snakes and this big ass crown in the church. I don't know, but I trust Tate.

-Eddie has green envy, and he's going with broken stained glass window eyes. I have a thing about eyes, so this disturbs me, and yet the concept is (as Eddie's usually are) undeniably cool.

-Laura has red wrath, and her woman is bloodily tearing her own face off in anger. Again, I'm equally disturbed and intrigued.

-Roy has purple pride, and he's doing someone who's had too much surgery to be thin and beautiful, and is consequently bruised all over and creepy as fuck.

-Miranda has dark blue lust and she is not digging the color. Her design has horns, but I don't think she did that to make the obvious horny joke. Missed opportunity.

-All the contestants are basing their designs off Dante's Inferno, and I have no idea why, because that wasn't mentioned in the challenge outline.

-Frank wants to make the biggest makeup anyone's done so far, and I'm worried for him,

-Mr. Westmore is being less helpful than usual, probably because we're down to the better designers and they need less direction. He tells Laura to go minimal with the blood, and cautions Eddie to make his less about the church and more easily recognizable as envy.

-Dear God, Frank's mold is HUGE. And Roy is worried that he's doing exactly what Hattrick told him not to do: the obvious. He needs A LOT of help getting his mold open, but it came out really well. He hopes that it being extreme and well done will win him points and make up for the obvious gluttony = fat design he went with.

-Roy is using a material that he hasn't used since he was eliminated in his original season, and Laney is doing old age wrinkles for the first time. No one is playing it safe here.

-I don't know what snakes have to do with Sloth, but Tate's snakes sure do look cool.

-In the battle of Miranda vs. The Pressure Washer, Miranda is losing and Frank won't help her. I'm not sure why she asked him for help repeatedly, when he refused the first time, but finally she asks Tate, and he does help her because Tate is amazing. I wish Tate was my big brother.

-Laney wants to incorporate prayer candles into her look, which I support.

-Now Roy is trying to talk Tate out of helping everyone, because it's coming to the end game, and Miranda has like, four wins. Tate is agreeing with him, but I'm not because, Roy, honey, remember when Tate smashed his hand all to shit and everyone else helped clean out his mold and pour in the foam and stuff? You guys help people when you can, and then they help you back when they can. That's what makes you all so cool! Don't listen to him, Tate!

-Frank's having trouble getting a realistic looking skin tone paint job done, and Laney is outside taking a blowtorch to her money dress to make it looked burned. Amazing,

-Miranda and Tate are both having issues with their cowls, Laura is behind on her painting, and Roy doesn't like his edges. None of this surprises me.

-Tate is super duper behind, and I'm hoping that someone will help him during last looks, to prove that I'm right and Roy is wrong.

-Laura seems to be the only one who has her shit even remotely together. Just FYI.

-Bryan Fuller, who has worked on a bunch of TV shows that seem totally unrelated to the challenge (Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies), is the guest judge. Why? Who knows.

-Roy's is mediocre in the extreme. It doesn't wow me either way.

-Tate's is creepy as fuck, even though I'm still not sure what the staircase and snakes have to do with sloth. It helps that his model has HUGE eyes. He also seems to have used very little of his requisite color (light blue) which I feel is going to be a problem.

-Frank's is... weird. The color seems off, especially in the face, and even though the look has a great big chin, the rest of his face is normal sized. I'm pretty sure this one isn't going to go over well at all. Also, there's little to no orange.

-Eddie's is a hot mess, IMHO, as usual. His stained glass window eyes look like a barn, and his sculpt is poor. Also, why is there so much red and so little green? Envy is the green eyed monster, so the stained glass window eyes should have been at least a little green. Eddie says he feels like he totally missed the mark, and I agree. Andrew said envy should have incorporated little elements from the other six designers, which I think is BRILLIANT.

-Miranda's is super smooth and chic as usual, but I don't totally see lust there.

-Laney's is weird (in a good way) and I feel like her original concept with the oil got lost (she never mentioned it again) but Fuller seems to dig it.

-And, as I suspected, Laura's is definitely the best. The teeth maybe are a little weird, but overall it's faaaaaaaaaaaar superior to everyone's else's, especially in terms of using her damn color and embodying her sin.

-During close-up time, Roy's edges are coming under fire (despite his matching purple shirt), the judges seem to love Tate's look, don't understand why Frank's face is only fat on the bottom, think Eddie's cowl is rough, like Miranda's sculpt, love Laney's colors, and think Laura's is clever but maybe not a whole lot of work.

-Fuller is super impressed with everything, and Laura, Eddie, and Laney are all safe. BULLSHIT, Eddie's was terrible and Laura's was great! Ah well, at least my two favs are safe. :D

-I guess Miranda's is meant to be a demon with a lust for eternal youth? Sure. She is beautiful though, as the judges say, and they really, REALLY like it. Fuller wants more T&A in his lust look, and I have to agree.

-Oh Frank. The only orange in his look is the apple they gave him... oy. The judges like the technical aspects of this, but they really don't like, as we all knew they wouldn't, the obvious direction he went in. And Ve doesn't like the big fat chin any more than I do.

-Roy's looks good from far away, but it doesn't hold up up close. The stitches are especially bad.

-Fuller really likes Tate's, and the judges don't even mind that he only used the light blue as his highlight color. Hattrick is also impressed with the non-literal interpretation and the amount of work Tate put in.

-I'm not sure if the judges hate Frank's or Roy's more, but they definitely seem much more into Tate's than Miranda's. If Roy goes home, I'm taking it as karma for him trying to talk Tate out of helping people.

-Winner: Tate! This is not a surprise to me, his was pretty damn cool. Also, he found time to help Frank and Miranda, and still win. Whereas Roy is in the bottom. HMMMM. But, Frank is out, because both his sculptural and creative choices were deemed poor. I'm sad, but I do think he had run his course on this show. And he seems happy (as happy as you can be when you're out) to have gone out on a makeup he was proud of and not a giant mistake. Plus, he definitely seemed to take this season much more seriously than the last time he was on.

-Next week is something about comedy? I don't know, their previews suck because they want you to watch the show that's on afterwards to see the sneak peek... But I don't care for Ghost Hunters, sorry SyFy.

ETA: Pictures are now up! Especially take a look at Laura's. :D

Answer to last Tuesday's song: Aliens Exist, by Blink-182. This was to go with the alien challenge on Face Off last week, but no one guessed it.

So, I'm catching up on your posts on this show since I'm finally caught up. Just so you know, the reason it took forever is because I'm insane and went back to season 1 and watched them all. I hate Frank. I hate Frank so much I was sooo pissed he was back this season. In his original season (2? can't remember...) he was the biggest jackass, being a dick to everyone and not taking his full time with challenges - instead he would sit there yelling, "well, I'm done, guys....don't know what you're doing, but I'm done" and never winning - of course.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say in response to "And he seems happy (as happy as you can be when you're out)" that when he was eliminated the first time he yelled, "Yes!" as a very obvious, super thinly veiled attempt to look cool when he was in fact disappointed in what an ass he'd been the whole season. And that is my spiel on Frank. God he's a fucking dick. Love Tate to pieces, though. :-)

Before this season started they did like, a flashback on the veteran contestants they were bringing in, so I did see some of Frank's antics. However, he did seem to have genuinely changed this season, and he was really ashamed of how he'd behaved the first time around. I don't hate him (of course, I didn't see all his nonsense in context) but I don't think he was good enough to win.

And everyone loves Tate to pieces; this is just a fact. :D
