Post two for today! I sense that this is going to be a theme on Tuesdays until Face Off is over.

-Maybe that was too many exclamation points for a show where I don't even remember what the theme is...

-We're down to six people: Roy, Laura, Tate, Laney, Eddie, and Miranda. Eddie and Laney are the only rookies left.

-Patrick Tatopoulos is there, and hey all know who that is but I sure don't. He's going to be the guest judge, I guess. (The internet tells me he was a judge on the first two seasons of Face Off. Makes sense for him to be there then!)

-The lab is all foggy and strobe lighty, and this week we're having a foundation challenge! The contestants have two hours to do their version of the Grim Reaper, with immunity as the prize.

-Laney wants blood spackle, Miranda did a snake, Laura applied prosthetics in weird ways (brow on his lips, etc.), Tate's is someone old and wise aka Hades, Roy is doing something purple that confuses me, and Eddie's has leaves.

-Eddie's actually turned out cool (he went with a natural grounded thing with roots and leaves) but the winner is Laura with her mouthless Grim Reaper. She made it from disparate appliance pieces blended seamlessly to look like a single sculpted piece, which really impressed Patrick.

-Now the contestants are at The Laugh Factory, which is a comedy club that opened in the 70's with Richard Pryor. It's also supposedly haunted (by Groucho Marx, of all people). The challenge is to create an original ghost character that is both scary and funny, ala Beetlejuice (which I believe Ve did the makeup for, hence why she's with McKenzie in the club explaining the challenge).

-Oh, it turns out that Ve actually won an Oscar for her work on Beetlejuice. Damn, show, don't give them a lot to live up to or anything.

-Ve tells them to "be creepy and scary, but also bitchin' and fun." She then emphasizes the contrast in Beetlejuice's makeup, along with the kooky funness of the moss growing on him.

-Roy wants to do a vaudeville act of little people on top of each other, Miranda is doing a nagging duchess, Tate comes up with "Bonecap Bill" who is like Wild Bill who's been scalped, Laura's idea is a bumbling scientist who got blown up, but doesn't actually know he's dead, Eddie is having issues, and working on something about a doctor who's curing cancer? I don't even know. Queen Laney has designed Electra Cute, who was electrocuted during a music festival. I'm pretty sure she should sell this idea to Mattel for a future MH doll.

-Eddie is scrapping his whole concept and starting over, which may or may not be wise. His new idea is a 1920's baseball player with a raging temper, killed by his own bat. That does seem better than 'vague doctor idea.'

-The Westmores are here! I guess Tate's character is the host of a children's television show for the spirits of dead kids, which is weird in a perfect kind of way. Mr Westmore advises Laney not to do too many lightning bolts on hers, Laura to make a bigger chin, Eddie to do a smaller one, and Roy not to abandon the cigar in his sketch.

-Miranda has appropriated one of the styrofoam heads that the wigs sit on to be the severed head in her design. I approve of this resourcefulness.

-Roy's bodysuit is super amusing to everyone in the lab, Tate is putting glowing eyes in his pony skull, and Eddie is back on track.

-Meanwhile, Laney is having severe issues getting her wig to stand up straight and look like the character's been electrocuted.

-TATE! God almighty, I love Tate. Despite agreeing last week with Roy's nonsense about not helping anyone anymore, he goes over to help Laney because TATE IS AMAZING. Seriously. Karma, Tate, it will come back to help you in the end.

-Laura is incorporating an ear falling off into her scientist look. He did make it through an explosion, after all.

-Roy's costume is seriously perfect in the scary yet hilarious department. I don't like what he told Tate last week, but I do like his concept for this challenge.

-Laney is behind and worried and I'm worried too because I love her so and I don't want to see her go home! :(

-Miranda has some big patch work to do, Laney is trying to make up for lost time, and Tate's look is full of arrows.

-Laura wants to impress the judges, even though she has immunity, and Roy is schooling his model in how to walk to properly sell the concept of his ghost. I agree with this strategy, because a model's selling of a look can have a big impact on the judges' opinion.

-Miranda has a lot of painting left to do, and she's worried about her chances. Eddie is also worried about his look, and Laney's airbrush is giving her problems. I LOVE YOU LANEY, YOU CAN DO IT.

-Reveal time!

-Laura's is clearly a scientist, and it's relatively obvious that he's dead, but I'm not sure it's funny enough. And I don't think his ear is hanging off, is it?

-Roy's is pretty hilarious, not gonna lie. The model could smile a little, but it made all the judges laugh out loud, which is a good sign. (ETA: Though you really have to see it in motion to fully experience the hilarity.)

-Eddie's is not good. I don't know WTF that color scheme is supposed to be, and the shape of it is super random. Why is it all elongated like that? Why is is yellow? Andrew says it looks more alien than ghost, and I have to agree.

-Tate's on the other hand, is superb. The skull is especially detailed and realistic, and the model and props really sell it.

-Miranda's is not my favorite. The face on the severed head is super bland, and why is she purple? Also, if there was any way to have her holding her own head, and then make the two severed heads argue, that would have been a million times funnier. Plus, this woman was supposedly beheaded, yet her head is still attached...

-Laney's is all right, though again I'm not sure why she is the color she is. The lightning bolt vein on her head is pretty damn cool (that was Mr. Westmore's suggestion), and the story behind her is very clear to me.

-Up close, the judges find Laura's ethereal, and they (and I) can see the ear hanging partway off his head more clearly. They're impressed with the amount of work in Roy's, don't like Eddie's head sculpt, love the details and work on Tate's, don't like the paint (or lack thereof) on Miranda's, and like the overall look of Laney's but not the grey color or the hard face.

-Miranda (WAT) and Tate (WAT) are safe. Guys, Miranda's was terrible and Tate's was amazing! What the hell is this?

-Laura's is 'superb' and Hattrick says he would fit right in with Beetlejuice. Ve says there was a massive amount of work in it, and Neville says he wishes it were funnier. Laura and I agree.

-Ve says Eddie's is just weird, not funny, and she's right. Why is his face pointed? Why the shapes around his eyes? Ve doesn't know, I don't know, and most importantly, Eddie doesn't know. Neville says it was funny when the guy was looking for the bat stuck to his head, but that was the model's acting more than the makeup. Hattrick says the look isn't funny, doesn't tell a story, and doesn't look like a ghost, so basically Eddie has failed on every level. That has to be worse than Laney's right?

-Neville says Roy's works, and it really really does. It made them all laugh, as I said, and Ve says that this is even a real Vaudeville trick, so she's impressed.

-Hattrick doesn't like the forms in Laney's head sculpt, Ve says she looks like a punk rock alien, and Neville says it should be funnier and more like a caricature. I can see what they're saying, but at least Laney had a story to go with hers that made sense, and she was able to explain most of her choices.

-Roy has to be the winner, seriously, his was definitely the best. I just hope to God that they find Eddie's worse than Laney's.

-Neville says Laney has to stop infusing every piece with her personality, which I don't agree with. Isn't that kind of what they should be doing? I suppose she does do a lot of cutesy punk stuff.

-P.S. Why is Hattrick dressed like an old time Western saloon piano player?

-Winner: Roy. Let me show you how surprised I am. But he totally deserved this, that was an A+ concept and it was well done.

-And (please not Laney please not Laney please not Laney) EDDIE is out. THANK YOU. I mean, that sucks for him, but QUEEN LANEY IS SAFE!

-The judges have encouraging words for Eddie, as does McKenzie, and he seems pretty all right with going home. Also, this officially makes Laney the sole remaining rookie... She's just that good.

ETA: Pictures are now up! Even if you don't watch Face Off or read these liveblogs, you should seriously check out the look Roy did this week. :)

Answer to last Tuesday's song: Holy Grail, by Jay-Z ft. Justin Timberlake. Against all odds, I love this song.

I was so happy to see Tate go help Laney! While I do understand not wanting to help everyone all the time to your detriment, but one of the reasons I love this show is because everyone helps each other. As long as people aren't being ridiculous about getting help (Miranda, I am looking at you and your "OH MAH GAWD WHY DON'T PEOPLE HELP ME WITH THIS PRESSURE WASHER THINGY NAOOOOO" moment), it's amazing!

Electicute is totally a backstory for a Monster High character. xD

I really thought Tate was going to do better with his look! His props were amazing, I loved the horse skull.

I so wanted Roy to win this challenge and was really happy that he did! I hadn't realized he'd not won anything yet before now. Something he said right before judging, he just seemed so insecure but hopeful that the judges would be amused by and like his makeup enough it sort of hit me in the feels and I was hoping so hard that he'd win. xD

I was glad that Eddie was sent home for the makeup he did. It really did fail all the challenges set forth, and he's been struggling through the show. I'm sure he'll improve with experience! Me and Scottie say that at the very least, he's really good at working with someone who's putting forth the ideas (Miranda and his cowl copy for example), so maybe once he's more comfortable with stuff he'll have an easier time thinking of workable ideas.

I know, I get the 'not helping everyone all the time' but it's ridiculous to not help anyone ever.

Yeah, I don't think Eddie is totally hopeless, but he was definitely not as good as everyone else.
