Time for the top and bottom looks from Project Runway!

Much like Face Off, I don't know most of these people's names, and I haven't picked a favorite yet (though my love from season 11, Amanda, aka The Girl who Once Lived with Adam Levine, is back) but I do know that I really don't like Korina. It only took one episode for me to find someone to hate on.

Top Looks

Challenge: Create a spring look using the fabric provided. The designers could also trade fabric with each other.

Amanda:

I like this. The pants were definitely the highlight.

Char:

I like this one more than Amanda's, mostly because the challenge was to design a look for spring, and this is much more spring-y to me than Amanda's.

The back is nice too:

Sandhya:

This, despite being hands down the strangest look on the runway, was also the winning one. I can't even remember what the judges said about it, but I think they were just impressed to see something they'd never seen before. I can't say I agree with this look winning, but I quite like Sandhya so I was happy.

P.S. Andrew said it looked like she dumped orange Kool-Aid over her head, and he's not wrong.

Bottom Looks

Angela:

This actually looks semi-OK from the front, but it's not great and there are construction issues...

Which become extremely obvious in the back. Still, she wasn't in the bottom two.

Mitchell:

Yeah, Mitch, honey, this is a freaking mess. The top looks unfinished, and I don't know what you were thinking adding that third kind of fabric around the sleeves. He was in the bottom two, and I kind of think he only stayed around because the judges liked his portfolio better than Jefferson's.

Jefferson:

This was the losing look, and Jefferson was eliminated. I think the judges said it had proportion problems, and the bottom was made poorly. It's not the worst thing I've ever seen on PR, but it is awfully short. Again, I think the judges just liked Mitchell's overall past work/ideas more than Jefferson's.

The challenge this week was to work in teams of three to create a cohesive mini-collection made out of unconventional materials found in and inspired by the movies. (I LOVE unconventional materials challenges, BTW). The designers worked with everything from movie tickets and popcorn bags to DVD's and actual film.

The top team was Korina (ugh, though she wasn't as insufferable this week), Kristine, and Amanda.

Korina:

I like this one. I don't find it as kooky as the other two dresses in their collection, but it's still impressive what she did with duct tape, film, and that transparency stuff the put over lights to change their color. I swear I know what that's called, but I can't remember.

The back is cool too:

Kristine:

This one may be my favorite from their collection. She used cording, transparent color film, and marquee letters. I wish the letters had spelled something, but I don't know if the judges would have liked that.

Amanda was the winner. Her look is definitely the weirdest of the three, which in a challenge where you're making dresses out of straws and shit, was exactly what the judges were looking for.

Amanda also used the most different materials. That things has chains, duct tape, rope, straws, marquee letters, zip ties, bolts, and who knows what else on it. The back even has a marquee letter cape thing:

The losing team was Hernan, Sandhya (who had immunity from last week), and Carrie. As is ALWAYS the case with team challenges, they had issues and it affected their final looks. In this case, the issue was that they couldn't decide what 'cohesive' meant. When Tim said they had to work together more instead of each making their own looks, they all just basically did what Hernan wanted them to do... even though the first dress Sandhya was working on was much better than what she ended up with.

Hernan:

This actually isn't a bad dress, and the judges liked it the best out of their collection. But then the two girls essentially copied it, which did not please the judges.

Sandhya:

As the judges said, it's a good thing she had immunity or she would have been out over this mess. In her defense, she had a much better look going, a silver thing with marquee letters on the shoulder, but gave in and abandoned her idea under the onslaught of Carrie and Hernan. Even though she said, repeatedly and correctly, that the judges didn't want them to make three dresses out of one material.

At least it looks better from the back?

Carrie:

Carrie was the designer eliminated, which I agreed with. Even though Hernan was the driving force behind their team being in the bottom, Carrie acted EXTREMELY immature from start to finish, including arguing with the judges (never good) telling them they were wrong and another team should have been in the bottom, and just generally pissing them off. I'm pretty sure she got eliminated over Hernan because of her crappy attitude.

And now, I'm going to show you my two favorite dresses from this week, because I can and because I think they should have been in the top.

Char:

Look at this dress! She sewed all those tickets together, how was this not in the top? I love it, especially with the pops of shiny from the busted DVDs.

Mitchell (who almost got eliminated last week):

This looked AMAZING under the runway lights, and it could double as a weapon if necessary. <3
