So, I think it's about time for a wedding countdown. Yesterday was exactly one month until the wedding, and so today is 30 days until the wedding. I may actually stress myself into a coma.

Anywho, here's a Face Off recap to distract us all.

The challenge this week was to work in self-selected pairs, take an assigned character from the Wizard of Oz, and re-imagine said character as if they had somehow ended up in Wonderland. There were only five looks, so I'm going to show you all of them.

The top teams were Keaghlan & Rachael and Dina & Stella.

Keaghlan & Rachel - Tin Woodsman:

These girls, quite fittingly, decided that the Tin Woodsman would have been made into the Queen of Heart's executioner if he'd ended up in Wonderland. This makes SO MUCH SENSE, and you can get that impression from the look.

The judges really loved the symmetry of this, as well as the attention to detail and impeccable paint job. They were especially fond of the added rust spots that made him look more real.

Dina and Stella - Winged Monkey:

This this is creepy as fuck, and it's perfect. The girls' idea was a winged money being made into a court jester in Wonderland, so much so that his body actually started to take on the jester shapes. The judges were crazy for this one, and it's definitely well thought out and well executed. I love the wings the most.

Did I mention this is creepy? The judges loved the blending of organic and inorganic in the look, and (not that you can tell in a picture) it was also extremely expressive. This was the winning makeup, and Dina the winning contestant (though I can't remember why.)

Drew and George were neither top nor bottom, and their look was the Wicked Witch of the West:

There is literally nothing Wonderland about this, which was, of course, the judges biggest issue with it. Ve said all they had to do was paint her a different color than green, but I guess that was beyond them. They were also insistent that she needed a hat, and so scrapped the tornado inspired hair they had planned. The judges disagreed with this decision.

Still, she was very well done and the judges loved the sculpt and silhouette of her. So they were safe.

The bottom teams were Cig & Damien and Jason & Sasha.

Cig and Damein - Scarecrow:

The idea of this, a scarecrow stuffed with crazy Wonderland materials and with a head that falls off occasionally, isn't bad. What doesn't work is the lack of focal point, and the way the face fades into the overall look. The judges wanted the face to stand out more, and for the look to be a little less busy. I mean, you can't even find his eyes in there.

Although I kind of like this one, the judges aren't wrong. You do lose his face, and it's hard to know where to look. The judges were also unsure what sculpting was done with this, and I'm not really sure either.

Jason and Sasha - Cowardly Lion:

I can't even remember what the concept of this was, something about the lion being a prisoner in Wonderland, but the basic issue was that Jason rebelled against whimsy and instead insisted on making it dark and gritty. Sasha tried to talk him out of this (but she wasn't very forceful) Mr. Westmore tried to talk them out of it, and the judges ultimately dubbed this the losing look.

On top of missing the point of the challenge, the judges weren't thrilled with the static face sculpt. Jason also had no real answer for why they didn't incorporate the Cheshire Cat more (after he said it was supposed to be part Cheshire Cat), or use a brighter fur color, and since this was mostly his fault, he was sent home.
