24 days until the wedding!!!

This was a unique episode of Face Off, where the three usual judges (Glenn, Ve, and Neville) competed against each other with help from some past contestants.

The 'judges' for this competition, such as they were, were Michael Westmore and Lois Burwell. But the winner was decided by the competitors voting, so the judging was mostly irrelevant. No one said anything bad about any of the looks, and I wonder if showing the judges getting criticized would have compromised their integrity as judges.

Anyway, the challenge was to design two characters based off of chess pieces, one pristine/good and one yucky/evil. Glenn worked with Laura (<3 <3 <3 all the <3) and Wayne, Ve worked with Conor and Roy, and Neville worked with Miranda and Anthony. The judges were playing to win money for charity, and their team also won $5000 apiece. Glenn was playing for North Shore Animal League, Ve for A Window Between Worlds, and Neville for the Orangutan Foundation.

Glenn, Laura, and Wayne, Knight:

This is extremely well executed (as it should be, they had three days) but the concept doesn't wow me. Glenn's attention to detail, however, is amazing.

Glenn, Laura, and Wayne, King:

He looks like he walked right out of Lord of the Rings. It's a shame there's not a close up shot of his face, the mouth was absolutely terrifying.

Ve, Conor, and Roy, Queen:

I would like to wear this in a movie, but I don't find it quite as impressive as the other looks. This is probably because Ve is a makeup artist, not a sculptor or fabricator, so the colors, makeup, and paint are where she focused her talents.

Ve, Conor, and Roy, Rook:

Roy, master fabricator, practically made this thing by himself. It's based off a transformer idea, and I can see that.

Neville, Miranda, and Anthony, Bishop:

This is freaky and looks more than a little like the alien from Alien.

Nevile, Miranda, and Anthony, Pawn:

Again, it's a shame that you can't see the face better, because that's the best part of this. I do like how they managed to make it retain the overall shape of a pawn.

Neville was voted the winner, which I think was just because his concepts were better. The real point of this was to give the judges (especially the non-sculpting ones) a deeper appreciation of what the Face Off contestants go through on a weekly basis, and they definitely accomplished that while creating some pretty awesome looks at the same time.
