leia131Holy cats, it's time for Face Off again and I haven't even done my recap from last week yet.
It was also, "remember that survey we had you fill out way back, where you listed your childhood fear? Well, this scary clown has to be inspired by that fear." Those fears included spiders and dolls, so please keep that in mind as well.
The top looks were Cig, Dina, and Sasha.
Cig, Dark Water:
LOL, I didn't notice that he had flippers on until just now. The seltzer bottle is another nice touch.
So, this thing is creepy as all get out. I'm not afraid of clowns, but this makeup might convince me to be. I really thought this was going to win.
Dina, Tornadoes:
Dina scrapped her original concept, which I can't remember, for this one, which is a clown that was caught in a tornado while at a birthday party.
The judges were particularly pleased with the card and the slice of flesh on the left side there. I wasn't quite as impressed as they were, but I like Dina, so.
Sasha, Old Dolls:
Sasha took a risk by making a doll that was painted like a clown, rather than a clown inspired by a doll, and the judges LOVED it. I actually find this kind of beautiful, but then again I like dolls.
The paint job is FLAWLESS, and both the judges and I were impressed by the wig that Sasha painstakingly made look like an actual doll's rooting pattern. It was also really nice to see Sasha be on top, proving that the judges did right in saving her.
I also loved how Sasha did her hair to match her model:
The bottom looks were Drew and Damien.
Drew, Spiders:
This is just so 'meh' to me.
I mean, he's got spider eyes on his forehead. That's pretty much it. The judges also really disliked the nose, which Drew had intended to look like an extended spider's leg, but which didn't really work out.
Damien, Spiders:
It just wasn't a good night for spiders, I guess. The concept of this, spiders bursting out of a dude, scares me deeply. But the execution is just sad.
The judges, especially Hetrick, were not impressed with how obvious this makeup was. They thought it was too reminiscent of other clowns, including the Joker, and they didn't like the way the spiders looked either. Damien went home, and since I could barely even tell you anything about Damien, I was pretty apathetic about this elimination.
