leia131Technically it was back last Tuesday, not this past Tuesday, but it ended up being a two-part episode (more or less) and they didn't show the final looks until this week. So, you know, here we are.
The challenge was to work in teams, each team mentored by a former champion, to create two aliens based on some wreckage. Then, halfway through that, McKenzie told them they would also have to create a ruler alien, based on a primate, of the world the original aliens had crashed on. And there were real live primates for them to look at!
Team Rayce:
I don't really think those first two aliens look like the same species at all, and the one in the middle wasn't very well sculpted, but I loved their primate alien.
Team Rayce, Primate:
This is not the best picture of this makeup, but this one was definitely my favorite. The monkey it was based on was a rather old Capuchin, who was losing her fur, so they went with this refined, older queen monkey. I'm pretty sure this look won, but I can't remember which artist won, and I don't know their names yet anyway.
The Monkey:
I want one.
Team Laura:
So, the first two aliens are great, and the judges loved them, but their primate was horrendous. The guy who sculpted and painted that one is the guy who got eliminated, and rightly so. (Though I do feel bad for Queen Laura, losing a member of her team so soon.)
Team Laura, Primate:
Nothing about this is good, except maybe his weapon.
Team Anthony:
I love their primate alien too. It's super obvious what their inspiration was, but I don't even care because it's so very well done. Their other two aliens got knocked for being sort of static and bland in the face, but whatever. They were the safe team.
Here are the champs:
I don't really remember Rayce (maybe he's from a very early season, before I watched Face Off?) I vaguely remember thinking Anthony didn't deserve to win his season, and then there's Queen Laura. She worked on the Hunger Games movies with Ve!
