Does it seem to anyone else like I never post about anything other than Face Off? I think I've just been too busy at work to post about anything else lately, lol.

Honestly, I got distracted and didn't know the details of this week's challenge, so let me quote Wikipedia: "The contestants must create a stylish and intelligent horror villain based on an avant-garde outfit of their choice, along with inspiration from the works of writer and director Clive Barker."

Yeah. I don't like horror movies, I don't really know who Clive Barker is, and I have it on excellent authority (Andrew) that I should never, ever see Hellraiser (Pinhead being the main movie villain this challenge was inspired by). So I was the a little nervous about this episode, but it worked out all right.

The judges also did a weird thing this week where they had four top looks and only two bottom looks. I don't know why.

Kelly:

This thing is creepy as fuck, and the model was selling it HARD, always licking at the scalpel and the cuts around her mouth. It's a shame they don't have a picture of her wearing the little gold mask she has in her hand. The judges loved this whole look, including the mask idea, and especially liked the red hair with the green dress. I admire Kelly for taking Anthony's advice, and working with the crappy way her sculpt came out of the mold instead of fighting against it. She's probably my second favorite contestant this season.

Julian:

This dude was a lot creepier in motion, and his teeth are terrifying. Too bad you can't see them. The judges liked this; there's a lot of work in the sculpt, and the paint job is flawless. It doesn't excite me, but I can see that it's really well done.

Emily (this is who I'm pulling for to win this season, btw):

I like this more the longer I look at it. I love that she worked off the feathers to make a head shaped like a beak, and I like that when her original idea (it had something to do with string) didn't work for the head, she replaced it with feathers and made it look awesome.

Here's a shot of it with the string:

That would have been cool, but it collapsed because gravity's a bitch.

Ben:

While I kind of think Kelly should have won, this is pretty awesome. It does look like some unidentified being, who will do you harm, and the judges were really pleased with the back of her head. I'm pretty sure this won because it was the most like Clive's other work (what little I know of it) and because it integrated the clothes the best.

P.S. The bathtub in the background is killing me. Did they think that was scary? It really detracts from the overall look ben had going here.

Stephanie:

I like Stephanie, but this is not a good look. This was meant to be some kind of seer, but both the concept and execution were confused. She was never quite sure what she wanted this to look like, and that uncertainty is evident in the final product. The part of her face that you can't see here (thanks SyFy) is worse than what's visible. The judges also (correctly) thought she looked too sympathetic to be a villain.

Jamie:

Jamie had perhaps the most obvious outfit, given the challenge, but she ended up with such a crap makeup on that poor model's head. What you can't see is that she has a black widow on the back of her head, with the legs wrapped partly around the front. The judges didn't like anything about this, least of all the paint job. It's orange, and the face isn't great even without the bad color. In an outfit like that, this character needed to be sexier, let's be real. And not so lumpy. So Jamie went home, as Anthony had feared she would when he saw how bad the color on this look was. I liked Jamie well enough, but I think that was the right decision.
