Apr. 7th, 2015 11:37 amEven though I am legit terrible at remembering to update this before it's been a week, we are going to see this Face Off thing through to the end! It's so close, I'm not going to falter now.
As you all should know by now, I love dolls. And, possibly because of this, the idea of living, homicidal dolls ranks right up there with zombies on my list of DO NOT WANT CHANGE THE CHANNEL NO THANK YOU DON'T EVEN MENTION THE WORDS. So, of course, this week's challenge was to create a creepy-ass living doll, and the guest judge was one of (or maybe the only?) creator of That Famous Living Doll Who Shall Not Be Named. I had to look away from the TV a lot.
Emily, Rag Doll:

Back to form, and back on top, Emily made the doll that I liked the best. This was an insane amount of work, since she sculpted and molded the texture that's all over it, and then ad-libbed the ripped-off arm when one of her molds cracked. I love her, and I'm glad she was back on top. The judges were particularly fond of the super long hair on this look too, which Emily spent a lot of time making.
Darla, Porcelain Doll:

This was the winning look, and even though I like Emily's better personally, I can see why. The cracks are impeccably done, the paint job is really fantastic (it takes a lot of work to make it look like there's no paint on it) the concept of a cracked doll with evil seeping out from the hole in her chest really did it for the judges, and the dirty, distressed wig is like the literal cherry on top. I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if Darla won this season.
Julian, Ventriloquist Dummy:

Julian had, imo, the easiest thing to make creepy, and yet this doesn't scare me. It has only a passing resemblance to wood, and the paint colors are crap. Also, his ears are sculpted super strangely. I am kind of over Julian, and wish he had gone home a few weeks ago, or this week instead of who did lose.
Adam, Baby Doll:

The judges thought this wasn't doll enough, but I like it. It's supposed to be evil having taken over the doll, and I totally get that. I love the little doll arms, and the striped PJ's, and I don't even mind the face sculpt, which the judges hated. I don't think Adam deserved to be eliminated for this, but the judges just didn't think it fit the challenge. I was sad to see him leave.
