So, I wrote this entry last week, and thought I had posted it, only to find out I had initially made it private and then never unlocked it. Anyway, here is last week's Face Off post, a bit late. <3

In my opinion, this was a strange episode of Face Off. It was the 100th episode, and to celebrate the contestants had to design makeup for couples who were then going to be married, on the show, in said makeup.

The weirdness comes from 1. the couples' apparent desires to get married while made up as a dead person (because that was the theme, they had to be dead and whimsical, Beetlejuice was given as an example) and 2. at the end of the episode they had a wedding rather than an elimination. I'm assuming the elimination is coming next week, but it still annoyed me because my fav Nora ended up on the bottom and I NEED TO KNOW THAT SHE'S OK.

Once again the designers were working in pairs, but each made an individual look this time. You're getting all the pictures again, because there's only seven, and as it's their wedding day I think they deserve it.

Safe Looks

Couple: Lia & Andrew. Designers: Scott & Stevie

I for sure thought this one was going to be on the bottom, since it's so plain and kind of boring, but it wasn't. They are a couple who drowned in an icy river, or something like that (the dude has a single icicle on his nose). They're dressed as Christmas carolers, I think because the couple got engaged near Christmas? Anyway, I didn't like this, but I guess the judges must have.

Couple: Kelly & Reid. Designers: Brittany & Libby

I totally don't remember the concept for this one, but the judges went on and on about how random the headpiece on the girl was, how abruptly it ended, why was her hair left out, etc. and then it was safe. *shrug* Oh, and there was something about their arms joining into a river? I don't even know.

Couple: Jamie & Chris. Designers: Kevon & Evan

Whoops, can't remember the concept for this one either. Judging by this pic though, it was 'wings'. Their faces are actually pretty cool, and I dig the Victorian aesthetic. I also believe this was the look where the designer messed up his face application while putting on the cowl. He must have fixed it all right though, since they were safe.

Top Looks

Couple: Charlotte & Serge. Designers: Ricky & Jordan

This concept was either that they were electrocuted, or drowned and electrocuted, I can't remember. It definitely involved electrocution, because the couple sold it hard with their twitching. The judges loved this, especially the intricacy of the sculpt (there's a lot of detail in it that's not evident here) the colors, the realistic anatomy (remember that for later) and the glowing, beating heart apparatus they rigged up for the dude... which of course is not in this picture. This one is also the most Beetlejuice-esque, IMO.

Couple: Lisa & Tom. Designers: Ben & Jasmine

This couple's backstory had something to do with cats. I can't recall exactly what, but it led the designers to the concept of a woman who loved her cat so much that, in the afterlife, they were able to be together as he was present as a humanoid cat...thing. Jasmine spent AGES putting the yarn on the wig and horns, and it paid off because the judges LOVED it and named her the winner. This couple was clearly going to win from the moment the judges saw the horns in silhouette, and they definitely deserved it. The guy was really into batting at the yarn on his horns like a cat would, and the judges were enchanted.

Bottom Looks

Couple: Michael & Devon. Designers: Meg & Nora

My poor bbs. My fav and Andrew's fav were paired up this week, but alas, the outcome was not good. Nora was super psyched to have been assigned the same-sex couple, as she is, in fact, a lesbian herself, but they struggled with the concept, and even more with the execution. They finally decided on an artist who loves her drawing so much that she kills herself because she can't be with him, and the sacrifice of that brings the drawing to life. He then he kills himself to be with her, and it was all very Romeo and Juliet, but it just did not work. Also, they made the one guy into a drag queen, because that's something he's into in real life, but it's not a GOOD drag queen. (Note: The gentleman in drag is apparently Vivienne Pinay from RuPaul's Drag Race). The judges didn't like the drag makeup, that the 'drawing' was so subtle, as you couldn't tell that he had brush stokes on his skin or that he was bleeding paint until you got up real close, or much else besides the concept. I'm just praying that they're safe, because NORA.

Couple: Andrew & Cassandra. Designers: Jason & Missy

I thought this (another drowned couple, you can tell because she has a fish in her hair) was pretty good, but the judges HATED it. They said the broken shoulder didn't subscribe to real anatomy, his face was drooping contrary to gravity, and they were displeased with the 'too dark' paint job. The judges were also worried because Jason and Missy had no idea why they were on the bottom, and thought they were a top look.

AND THEN. No one eliminated this week, because they had the big wedding at the end instead. (I guess they didn't want to ruin someone's wedding day by saying the look they had on was the worst?) Most of the couples had trouble kissing while wearing these elaborate makeups, but they also got to get married by McKenzie, so I guess it evens out.

Some shots of the wedding ceremony:

We'll have to wait until next week to see who got voted off, but I did see Meg in one of the 'coming next week' shots, so, spoiler, it's not going to be her.

P.S. How cute are these too? Please don't send Nora home!
