Here I present a new fic I have written. It's fairly short, only about 350 words. It is a sequel, sort of thing, to Tender, which can be found here

Remus Lupin had never stargazed. There was something about stars, about the way they went with the moon, never one without the other, that bothered him. Remus had not yet, in his tender school days, come to respect the moon and its power. He hated the moon, and the stars with it, and avoided them, as he avoided the night. And so, he was less then thrilled when his newly acquired boyfriend announced, with no room in his mind for a refusal, that the two of them would be sneaking out that night to watch the stars.

The four marauders were spending the last few weeks of the summer holidays at James’ house in the country, and Sirius told Remus that the field behind said house was ideal for watching shooting stars. Remus had protested the plan on the grounds that they would be out at one in the morning, it was bound to be chilly, and what they would see were actually meteors and not even really stars, but Sirius had given him his puppy dog look and whined “Please Remus? Pretty please?” And Remus had given in, like he always did, because 15 was a tender age and he didn’t want to hurt Sirius’ feelings.

It could do no harm really, and Remus was grateful to Sirius for bringing about what he had been too shy to attempt. It had taken a lot of courage for Sirius to finally admit the feelings he had harbored since second year to Remus, and elicit the same sort of shy revelation from the werewolf. Theirs was an awkward relationship still, new and tender, and tentative. Sirius had never felt quite like this about anyone before, and Remus had only discovered with Sirius that he could feel like this about anyone, but that was mainly because he’d been focusing on the wrong sex. But both boys, despite, or perhaps because of their strong feelings, were extra careful not to hurt the other’s tender ones, or scare him away. So Remus, despite his reservations, consented to meet Sirius downstairs at 1:30 and go out to the field.

Sirius appeared in the kitchen with two big old blankets, a flashlight, James’ couch pillows, and an enormous grin. “Ready?” he asked, already brimming with excitement. Remus smiled and tried to match Sirius’ excitement. “As I’ll ever be.” They tiptoed out of the house, and as soon as they had made it through Mrs. Potter’s garden Sirius grabbed Remus’ hand, gave a quiet yell, and took off through the field. He ran wildly, pulling Remus in his wake, blankets flying crazily behind him, flashlight beam bouncing madly in front.

When he reached the middle of the field, Sirius threw down the blankets and pillows in a pile, switched off the flashlight, and grinned at Remus. Remus smiled at the boyish exuberance and flush in his partner’s cheeks. They were both a bit out of breath, and Remus laughed and pushed his hair out of his face. He then spread the blankets neatly on the ground, and put the pillows on them side by side. Sirius immediately flopped down on one pillow, and Remus lowered himself next to him on the other. They stared upwards. The night was not altogether clear; clouds obscured parts of the sky, and Remus looked over to see Sirius make a face at them.

“S’ok,” he reassured Sirius. “Still plenty of stars to see.”

“Yup.” Sirius breathed. After a bit, unbidden, he began “I love stars. I love to look at them and wait for shooters. It’s something that transcends all. It has nothing to do with Muggle or magic, blood or brains.” Remus glanced over, saw Sirius’ face, and knew he was thinking of his mother. “It’s just…just being. Just you and the sky. Nothing else, nothing complicated.” He sighed. Remus knew this speech was uncharacteristically deep for Sirius; stargazing must be really important to him. Remus decided to take it seriously as well. They lay in silence, comfortably close, and comfortably far away.

Suddenly Sirius’ hand shot up, pointing, and Remus excitedly followed his finger as Sirius called out “There…one doesn’t go!” Remus looked at him, laughed, and brained him with his pillow. “You dolt.” Sirius laughed, and lay back down. After half an hour of “There I don’t see one” and “There one isn’t” and increasing clouds, Remus was about ready to call it quits. “Sirius, I’m cold.” Sirius merely responded by covering them with the other blanket. Remus sighed, but cut it off midway. He gasped instead. A streak of light, so bright it was faintly purple, lingered in the sky overhead. Remus breathed only after it had faded completely. “That was amazing.” He said, suddenly understanding why they were out here. “I know,” Sirius responded, grinning again. He knew that Remus got it.

The next half hour was much more exciting, full of light streaks of various lengths and brightnesses. At one point Sirius had become so excited that he had grabbed Remus’ hand, and they had stayed that way. But the clouds had been moving in steadily for a while, and they now blocked out most of the stars. When the last dot of light disappeared, Remus whispered, “Uhhh, Siri? There’s no more stars.”

“Yes there are,” Sirius said, and Remus suddenly found himself beneath the dark haired boy. “I see one here,” he kissed Remus on his left eyelid, “and one here.” He kissed Remus on his right eyelid.

Sirius looked down at Remus, gauging his reaction. His eyes were full of unspoken questions. Was this proximity too close? The position too intense? Were the kisses too much? He was aware and careful of Remus’ tender skin. But Remus wanted an end to the awkwardness and carefulness. He said softly “here I don’t see one,” and leaned up slightly to feel tender lips against his own. The kiss was shy at first, unknown sensations to Remus, longed for by Sirius, and wanted by both. It soon turned deeper as Sirius, encouraged by Remus’ start, decided to see what he could get away with. He sneaked his tongue past Remus’ lips, and Remus did not object.

When the kiss was finally done, both boys satisfied, they sat up, breathless and smiling, and Sirius said, “You were wrong Remus. There were stars there. I saw them.” And they laughed softly, stood, and walked back inside wrapped tenderly in the blankets and each other’s arms.

Both stories are Remus/Sirius slash, so if you don't want to read about two teenage boys living in homosexualness, never doing much more than kissing but implying a bit more, then don't read these.

But if you do want some sweet and fluffy slah, by all means click Tender first, and then click here:

In the common room one night, Sirius discovered that he had created a monster.

Ever since the first stargazing trip, Remus had become almost obsessed with astrology.

It was driving Sirius mad.

He was trying to read a magazine someone had lent him about muggle motorcycles, seated next to Remus on the common room couch, and it was impossible.

It was impossible because Remus was reading a book about stars, and, ever fascinated by the joys of discovery, he kept interrupting Sirius with sentences that began “Did you know that…” and ended with a huge sigh from Sirius.

“Did you know that there are eleven named stars in the constellation Gemini?”
“No, Remus, and I swear that if you interrupt me one more time with some boring star fact, I am going to hex your mouth closed. I love you, but honestly.”

Remus smiled at the look on Sirius face, kissed him softly, and said, “All right I promise. No more boring facts.”

“Thank you.” And the two boys resumed reading.

It was actually quite a while before Remus said “Sirius, did you know…”

“Remus, you promised.”

“I know. But this one isn’t boring. You’ll like it. And, it’s given me an idea that you’ll like even better.”

“All right then.”

“Did you know that the hottest days in summer, the dog days, are so called because during these 20 days, Sirius, the dog star, rises and sets along with the sun?” Remus looked at Sirius expectantly.

“Ok, you’re right, that wasn’t boring,” Sirius conceded. He smiled. “Now what’s this idea of yours?”

Remus moved closer to Sirius on the couch. He leaned in close and lowered his voice.

“I knew you’d like it because you like anything that has to do with you, in any way.” He smiled to show he was teasing. “And I thought we could go upstairs and see how hot it gets when this Sirius rises.” He grinned a small wicked grin.

As he was being practically dragged up to his bedroom by Remus, Sirius reflected that maybe the monster he had created wasn’t so bad after all.

Author’s Notes: This story was inspired by a question on Jeopardy. Really. And no one knew that the answer was Sirius. I was ashamed of them. Also, all of the star facts in here are accurate. I checked.

Comments are appreciated, suggestions are welcome, feel free to ask questions, and there is a funny story to go along with Tender.

And I do not own any of these characters, nor am I making money off this, because if I did or if I was I would have a paid livejournal account.

And I am new at this linking business, please forgive me.

That's the point. The repitition of tender is the thread that binds the story together. I did it on purpose, and that's why tender is the title. It's supposed to evoke the frailty and sweetness of this budding relationship...

And did you notice that I threw in what my dad actually says when we go stargazing?

Lova ya!

lol, yes i did notice that bit...i dunno i think it's mrs. costello wearing on me, but i can't stand repetition of a word in a piece, it annoys the crap out of me, even if it was the thread to bind it all together...hehehe...maybe i'm just too weird.
