I discovered some things tonight.

1. I crave people the same way I crave chocolate. I have days where I just, like, INTENSELY need to see/talk to one particular person. For the past few days I have been craving Erin. ERIN I NEED YOU! Heh.

2. I like taking pictures, and then seeing how they come out, because they never look the way you think they're going to. I think I kind of want to take pictures. Artistic pictures. I have these pictures that I just, am so proud of, because they're just cool. (Yeah, I'm weird. And rambling.)

3. Getting good comments on the fic I waited an entire year to post over at the Remus/Sirius community is one of the best feelings in the world. And it's addicting. I can't wait to post again.

4. You can't install Microsoft Word unless you install Works first.

5. My laptop does not have a floppy disk drive, which puts me back to having no way to transfer my files and pics from this computer to that one.

6. I don't like having French toast for dinner. (Actually, I don't really like French toast all that much at any time, but I already knew that.)

Isn't learning fun?

You can get one of these little USB flash drives (http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=10976&catalogId=10051&firstlevelCategoryId=10912&secondlevelCatName=Drives+%26+Media&prodCatType=1&langId=-1&pCategoryId=10056&secondlevelCategoryId=10056&storeId=10001&firstlevelCatName=Technology), which are like little floppy disks that will plug in to the back of almost any computer. You can carry it around with you and plug it in to the nearest computer whenever the urge to write (or get other stuff back and forth) strikes.

Also, considering 1 floppy disk = 1.4 megabytes, even the cheapest 128 megabyte flash drive should give you plenty of room.

About nice fic response being addiction?

Hells to the yeah. Why do you think I've been writing it for the past five years? ;P

Also; I customised my laptop because their standard models didn't quite fit Hopkins requirements, so while I was at it, I added a floppy drive. It's external, but all you need to hook it up to any computer is a USB port (and most new laptops have at least four, because you can use them for anything - hooking up a mouse, using a flash drive, connecting your printer, etc). I can lend you the floppy drive and show you how to hook it up and you can just transfer all your stuff from the floppies to your hard drive in a few minutes. Nifty, non?

A patch cord looks like a fat phone cord with wider connectors on each end. You plug one end into the Network port on your laptop, plug the other end into the port on the wall in your room (or in a variety of other places on campus), and voila, you are on the Internet.

It also does not need to be blue. It can be black or grey or hot pink or... just as long as it says "CAT5e Patch Cord". You may want to get a little longer one, as it will allow you more slack to move around your room with your laptop.

Ahhh.

See, I already have this cable, (it came with my laptop) and no one knew what it was for, least of all me.

But I suspected you'd know.

Thank you love!

ahh, ok - I thought you were looking for one. My college put "Network patch cable" in the list of things students must have in one of their mailings, so it's a good thing that you have one already.

You're welcome, and always happy to help.
