So much to say and so little time...

The two words that best describe college thus far are weird and snark.

Weird because it just is. Everything about this whole experience is weird. I just spent $325.64 on books. That's weird.

Snark because everyone has a snide comment about everything, and we don't hesitate to share them with each other.

We went to this ridiculous welcoming ceremony last night, and this guy Mike and I snarked the entire thing. One speaker goes "close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar" and I started giggling because, as I informed Mike, those are lyrics from Phantom of the Opera. (Then during the organ heavy "Musical Interlude" (Mike: Are we at the carnival?) I half expected the woman to play those famous Phantom chords.

We also had to sit on the floor in the way back because there weren't enough chairs, and we followed Dirty Dan's lead. (NOTE TO ALL FUTURE COLLEGE STUDENTS: You will have to play the name game. You will have to pick an adjective for yourself. You will probably be known by this adjective, at least to the people in your group, for the next four years. Choose wisely.)

Hey can anyone tell me, because I can't remember and I don't have the book up here, what the guy tells the Sixth years about Apparation? Weren't there like "The Three D's" or something? Cause another speaker last night used three D's (Mike: Don't Do Drugs) and I laughed at that too.

Oh and then the best part was reciting the "I promise to be good and study and search for the truth" thing, which everyone did in their best monotone, except Mike and me, who seriously mocked it with our tones. (THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE!)

And we SANG! Oh boy. If you though freshmen didn't want to recite in unison, you should hear them sing. Yikes.

So I'm ok. Really. I need to adjust and make some friends and find some theater people but I think it'll be ok. I get more emotional and scared at night, but there's a dance tonight (Mike: It's like middle school all over again) so I won't have time to mope.

I love and miss you all!

P.S. I met this guy with a fake ID who's goal is to "set records." At bars. With alcohol. His name is Adam. He reminds me A LOT of another Adam I know...
Who wants to hear the good news?

I CONNECTED!

Yay.

This morning I could HEAR Angel of Music wafting down the hall, but I couldn't find where it was coming from. So tonight Cinzia and I were wandering into rooms meeting other people who weren't at the scary dance and in the very room next to ours we found Sarah and Abby. Abby had been playing Phantom this morning. They're both in theater. Abby likes Johnny Depp and Harry Potter and Phantom and musicals. Yeah we totally connected.

Then this girl Katie wandered in from first floor (we're on third) and she likes Star Wars. This is Teh Best Night!

I knew all I needed were some crazy theater people.

Oh, I meant to tell you all I'm in Lyons, floor 3, room 365. I'll post my address and phone number when I have more light.

Night!
