So, I finally saw Star Trek. The new one. The new movie. You know what I mean.

I have only one complaint, and that was that Zoe Saldana should have had more screen time. I love her, and she was awesome.
 

Seriously, that's the only thing I could find to complain about. That movie did not go at all where I thought it would, and I was so... entertained! I felt like it was one of the more original things I've seen in years. Which is odd, since it's like the 27th incanation of this world/mythos. It's also pretty hard for movies to surprise me, but this one managed it. Good job all around.

It was also hilarious (especially Bones), and Kirk was kind of cute, and it made me go IS THAT WINONA RYDER?! HOLY SHIT IT TOTALLY IS! so that was fun.

I also know very little about the source material, so that's not a prerequisite for enjoyment. I mean, I know their names, and some of the actors' names, and the big lines, and the split infinitive, and you know, stuff like that. Which reminds me! I appreciate it when movies that are based on something so well known and well loved acknowledge that. It's like, yes, it's a new movie, re-vitializing, breathing new life, whatever, but don't you forget who made you. And they didn't.

Possibly. Though I didn't mind the new ones as much as most other SW fans I know.

Have you seen the new Star Trek? Cause what I meant was that all those lines people wanted to hear, were in it.

I have seen the new Star Trek. I did like it. Quite a bit, but a lot of that might have had to do with Chris Pine. I think that they made the appropriate nods to the originals, which I liked a lot. I was a little sad that William Shatner wasn't in it, though. I need me some Denny Crane.
