Even More Oscar Fashion!
Feb. 24th, 2015 10:04 pmI hope you weren't all sick of dessses and my thoughts on them in the last post, because there are some more I want to talk about that didn't make it into my live blog. These are mostly people who I didn't see on the red carpet, or who I didn't post about in that stream of consciousness I was writing while watching.
David and Jessica Oyelowo:

I'm not going to pretend that I had any idea who David was before the Oscars, but I do want to commend him for 1. wearing a non-black tux and 2. fucking rocking it! He looks fabulous, and he was such a good sport with NPH and his awkward jokes. I'm assuming that's his wife he's with, and while I do not care for her dress, it's not the worst thing I've ever seen on a red carpet. I kind of dig the top, but think it could do with about two fewer layers.
Jamie Chung:

I did see her come in, and wondered why she was there, until Andrew reminded me that she was the voice of Gogo in Big Hero 6... which won for Best Animated Feature, so I don't know why they made her sit in the back. This dress is beautiful, and both it and she deserved way more attention than they got.
Faith Hill & Tim McGraw:

Just imagine how much better Faith's look would have been if her necklace was a bright color and not the same shade as her dress. At least the end of it. Also, I totally didn't recognize Tim at first. He's like, naked without the cowboy hat. Or maybe it's the missing moustache?
Remember that girl crush I may have on Rita Ora? I'm not sure whether this makes me like her more or less:

On the one hand, she is very very pretty, and obviously very very shapely. And if you've got it, flaunt it. On the other hand, there's not a whole lot being left to the imagination here, and perhaps the Oscars isn't quite the venue for this kind of flaunting. Or anywhere in public, really. I think I wouldn't mind the sheer sides, if the back was solid like the front. And if the placement of the train didn't make it look a lot like she's trailing poo.
Apparently Kristen Bell (and Dax Shepard) were there, and I missed them:

Her hair is fabulous in the extreme, and the dress is pretty good. I think it would have been better in a color, but overall it's awesome.
Chrissy Teigen & John Legend:

There's a reason she wears clothes and poses for a living. Every bit of this is just stunning.
Kerry Washington:

She's so pretty, I assume she's so talented (I've never watched Scandal) but she just doesn't do fashion well. There are worse things you could be bad at, but I want to much better for her top half. The skirt is nice, but that bodice looks both uncomfortable and unflattering.
Laura Dern:

Somehow I missed her in my liveblog, and this is a tragedy because 1. She's Dr. Ellie Sattler, paleobotanist of my heart, 2. She was nominated for an Oscar, and 3. This dress is amazing on its own and incredible on her. Also, while I do love her hair, the bangs seemed to be out of her comfort zone. P.S. I would consider seeing Wild just for her.
I have literally no idea who Loraelei Linklater is, but I remember seeing this dress on the red carpet and thinking, WTF?

If it were solid black under the cherry blossom design, it could have been really pretty. Alas, we got this instead.
Nothing to say about the fashion here, I just love J.K. Simmons right now:

This is a pretty amazing picture, let's be real.
You guys have no idea how hard it is for me not to post pictures of all the hot guys in their tuxes, which are unremarkable, except that they are tuxes and therefore make said guys look extra hot. Maybe a Hot Guys in Tuxes at the Oscars post is in order for tomorrow?
