So I took Ari, Hannah, Kristen, and Renee to see Into the Woods today. It was quite good. The play itself is pretty good, but these people at St. Mike's that did it were phenominal.

The only thing that bugs me is what happened to the Baker's Wife in act 2. I didn't like how she was used by the prince and then she died. That wasn't fair. I'm also being haunted by the suspicion that I don't really get the point of the whole thing, so if anyone has any insights...

Besides that I really liked Little Red Riding Hood, and the Witch, and the Baker was cute. Hee hee hee.

Then we all went to dinner at Sweetwaters, which was also phenominal, and then home. And we tortured my poor mother all the way there and back with our crazy music and bad singing. Ha ha ha.

So I had a good day.

"I was trained to be chaming, not sincere!" So true.

Today I love The Calling, because I remembered who they are

Today I hate giants

OOO!! I know this one! It's basically about people doing anything to get their wish, and in the end, it fucks them over, excuse the language. Thus, know yourself, and know not only what you want, but what you need and how getting it will effect you and what you want, then make a wish. If you listen to the lyrics it's a common theme throughout. Thus Cinderella's Mother "Do you knwo what you wish? Are you certain what you wish is what you want?" and Cinderella's song on the steps of the palace "But then how can you know who you are til you know what you want but you don't so then which do you pick? And so on...It's kind of a grass is greener thing. Then in the end it all ties together with "Children Will Listen" and to pass on the moral of the story. Is it obvious I love this musical?

Thank you soooo much! I thought it was something like "Be careful what you wish for..."

And I dunno, the baker's wife didn't really wish for a prince...whatever. I just liked her character and the prince was an ass.

But I liked it and I can definately tell that you love it, and I'm glad you explained it to me, cause my mom thought it was the end at intermission and I was like "No, Janeea said people die, so there's more..." Heh.

And aren't musicals great?

Indeed...I think it's kind of an underlying thing that she wanted a prince. In "A Very Nice Prince" she keeps asking Cinderella about the prince and then they both sing "he's a very nice prince" the Baker's Wife is all whimsical and Cinderella is all confused. Then she says "What I wouldn't give to be in your shoes"

I'm sorry...I'm awful...but I do sooo love this musical and there are so many subtext kind of things that you have to look for. The Baker's Wife claims she doesn't wish...."Just within reason" but she obviously pines for the prince....sigh....oh I love this musical.

I get involved...I'm like analyzing a novel...I feel like Mr. French....hehe....
