Someday, someone will ask me where I was when the Cubs won the World Series for the first time in over 100 years. And I will proudly tell them that I was on my living room couch, watching it happen. While Andrew went to bed. :P
Witty observation I made while simultaneously watching the Red Sox and listening to Les Mis: The Red Sox theme song really should be Bring Him Home.
No Project Runway liveblog tonight, because Andrew and I were at the Durham Bulls ball game!

A few quick comments:

-Sadly, I'm liking Bert less and less as time goes on, but Anthony Ryan is still going strong, as is Anya.

-I actually quite like the circus-matador outfit. Then again, I think the blue and brown one is hideous, and not just because of the awful hair, so clearly I know nothing.

-Awww, why is it always the girl I like that goes home? Oh well, Anthony Ryan lives to design another day!

And now the real reason for this post, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO NORA AND GINNY!!!

It amuses me for some reason that they share the same birthday. I think Nora is a lot like Ginny, and in all the best ways.

This is me, sitting in my living room, freezing, feeling...odd, and not wanting to go pick up the pink room, because then I'll have to remember that Andrew was here last night, and now he's gone. :(

(Sidebar: if you aren't going to want to hear about how crazy I am about Andrew, you'd do well to stop reading this journal for the foreseeable future. He makes me so happy, and I'm going to talk about it.)

Anyways, in lieu of doing something useful, I'm going to babble!

Thank you, Jorge Posada.

Of course, the irony of this situation is that, come Friday, I'll be hoping that the Indians lose. But that's then and this is now and I'm happy for them at the moment, and even if they do beat the Red Sox, they're still not the Yankees.

Also, if they go on and the Red Sox don't, at least Trot will have made it to the World Series.
1. The Red Sox swept the Angels, and now I'm watching the Yankees/Indians game to see who they're going to play next. Yay Red Sox! Though I do feel bad for the Angels getting beat three games in a row. It really must suck to make it all the way to the post-season, only to be eliminated right away.

2. Here's a phrase I never thought I'd hear: "The Red Sox's pitching was utterly dominant." If you've been a Red Sox fan for as long as I have, you'll understand why.

3. Why is Dane Cook doing the ads for the post-season? Is he a big baseball fan?

4. The Yankees make me laugh. Jeter threw ridiculously far from first base last inning, causing Giambi to leap ungracefully and fall on his ass. And Roger just almost knocked his own hat off.

5. Oddly enough though, I like Derek Jeter. He seems like a nice guy. He went on SNL and made fun of himself, and wore a dress. I don't however like A-Rod, or Traitor Damen.

6. The announcers also said that Steinbrener has said that if the Yankees don't win this series, Torre's not coming back next season. OH SNAP.

7. The Indians just made their second double play in as many innings. I kind of heart them right now.

8. Is it just me, or are all the Indians really young? All their players are like, younger than 30.

9. Except Trot. My Trot plays for Cleveland now, and the announcers called him "the most experienced hitter versus Roger Clemens." (Cause the Red Sox play the Yankess A LOT.) He then proceeded to hit a homerun off Roger. Heh.

10. I bet Trot hopes the Indians win, so he can go play in Boston. I bet he misses his teammates. I bet he's looking forward to going out drinking with Manny and Ortiz and the rest again. I would be. They seem like fun guys.
Also, my knee is sunburned. Just one, and just my knee.
So my family and I went to the Red Sox/Devil Rays game today for Vermont Day and because it was my parents' anniversary.

Now, anyone who either watched the game or is a Red Sox fan will understand what I am about to say.

They won, but just barely. They tried very hard to lose. To TAMPA BAY of all people. Tampa Bay SUCKS.

Wakefield pitched. Eight perfect, scoreless innings. Going into the 9th inning, it's 5-0 Red Sox. The new pitcher, S-something, gets two outs. The ENTIRE CROWD is on its feet, cheering and clapping for the last out and first Red Sox shut out.

And he walks the batter.

That's not so bad, man on first, we can deal with that.

Then he walks the next batter. And the next one. And the next one. Now he's walked home a run.

At this point, Terry Francona finally gets his head out of his ass and puts in a new pitcher, Tavores or something like that. He technically strikes a guy out, but Mirabelli drops the third strike and the guy gets to first and it's now 2-5 Red Sox and the bases are loaded it's not looking good.

And T-whatever, walks home another run.

The crowd starts to get ugly now. It's the ninth inning, it's boiling hot, we're all on our feet, we don't know who these pitchers are, we were winning by a lot and now, not so much, we only need one more out, and Francona keeps this asshole in.

The crowd gets even uglier, and starts chanting "We want Paplebon." (I sat down at this point, because I couldn't bear to watch anymore.)

The Tampa Bay batter finally hit a pitch, and even though he got on and another run scored, the Red Sox somehow managed to make an out and win 5-4.

Let's recap: Ninth inning, Tampa Bay has no runs and 2 outs. Red Sox lead 5-0. End of the game, Red Sox win 5-4. What's wrong with this picture?

Ah, but they wouldn't be the Red Sox if they DIDN'T play like that. Idiots.

Trot did well though. Even got the first Red Sox hit of the game. YAY TROT!

Final thought: There's nothing like watching a baseball game live. It's just way more engaging than when it's on tv. The energy, the cheering, the food, the wave, the sweat, the sound a bat makes when it hits a ball, the way the crowd oohs and ahhhs, the wafting smell of hot dogs and peanuts... It's something everyone should experience.
