Please enjoy this rare (for this time of my life) non-Olympic post. :D

A Man Made Monster )

Song quote for today: More than ever, hour after our work is never over

Answer to last Tuesday's song: Blood in the Water, from Legally Blonde. No one guessed this, but I had to pick it because it was about sharks (sort of) and last Tuesday was my Jaws review.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Why do I blog? I mean, why does anyone blog? Because they have things to say, and because they think other people want to read about them. I also blog so I can remember things that happened years ago, and how I felt/what I was thinking at that time. Oh, and I like to record funny quotes.

And finally,
A Halloween MH Review! )

Answer to last Thursday's song: Josie and the Pussycats Theme, from Josie and the Pussycats. No one guessed this one.

Song quote for tonight: Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?
I realized when I was talking about the Heath and Abbey two pack a little bit ago that I haven't actually done a review of Abbey, so I thought maybe I should do that before we get to the two pack.

Here there be yetis! )

Song quote for tonight: And she's got a way of makin' a boy act like a clown!

Answer to last Thursday's song: Worried Man Blues, my version is by The Kingston Trio. No one guessed this.
This review is looooooong overdue, because Dawn of the Dance Clawdeen was one of my earlier doll acquisitions. She was purchased back when I was pretending that I was going to limit myself mostly to new characters, and only buy doubles if the new version was super different than his or her signature doll... Yeah.

Anyway, with that in mind, I was thrilled to see this beauty on the shelf.

Andrew and I refer to her as Rihanna, and here's why! )

Song quote for today (which is kicking off Musicals Week, btw): I didn't recognize you without the handcuffs.
Answer to last Sunday's song: Oh, there was no song last Sunday.
Remember when I said I had exciting doll-related news on the horizon? (Warning, this got kind of long).

Well, here it is! )

Song quote for today: It's plain to see we're over, and I hate when things are over, when so much is left undone.

Answer to last Sunday's song: Sweet Caroline, by Neil Diamond. No one guessed this. :(
The Dash game was fun, and they won 6-1, but there's not really much else to say about it. Plus, my camera batter was dead, so I didn't get any pictures.

So have a doll review instead! )

Song for today: Was in the spring, and spring became the summer

Answer to last Sunday's song: There was no song last Sunday. Sorry!
This is a very special Monster High review, because not only did this set come with two dolls, but it also introduced to me my very first boy doll.

Did you know Monster High even made boys? )

Song quote for tonight: Fly the ocean in a silver plane, see the jungle when it's wet with rain

Answer to last Monday's song: Larger Than Life, by The Backstreet Boys. No one guessed this. :(
For this review, I'm going to have to use my Google Fu, because my camera apparently hates details. And Operetta has a lot of beautiful details, so let's hope other intrepid photographers on the internets can help me out!

Here's Operetta, who has no last name for some reason )

Song quote for today (which, BTW, is back to songs I actually like): Wildly my mind beats against you... You resist, yet your soul obeys!

Answer to last Sunday's song: Ride With Me, by Nelly. I don't like Nelly, I don't like this song, and yet I KNOW EVERY WORD. Nobody guessed this one, which means you're all luckier than me.
Here is my next review, finally! And this one is going to be a little different, ostensibly to celebrate my return to MH reviews, but mostly just because I feel like it.

Anyway, I had been reviewing my dolls in the rough order that I acquired them (as well as I can remember anyway) but I just bought Picture Day Cleo a few days ago with my Christmas money, and decided to break the pattern and review a new doll for a change. This review has quite a few more pictures than usual, jsyk.

My first ever picture of a MH doll in a box! )
Finally! I know you have all been waiting with bated breath for this. :)

One more pair of shoes I wish they made in real-people size. )

And on that note, I'm going to conclude my GR reviews for a little while. I think the next review is probably going to be of Cleo, which is going to be interesting as I don't actually own a basic Cleo... She was the next doll I bought though!
So, Ghoulia and I have a complicated relationship.

Rant time: (And this is going outside the cut, because I feel like everyone needs to know this about me, for future reference) I FUCKING HATE ZOMBIES. I hate the idea, they scare me, I hate that they're so popular, I even hate the word, and usually try to avoid saying it. I wish everyone would just get over their fascination with the stupid things, so I could stop hearing about them. If The Walking Dead had never existed, in any form, that would be WONDERFUL. If you like them, fine, great, but don't try to convince me to. I am terrified of them (seriously, even that one episode of Castle scared me, and I couldn't sleep for a week after I (erroneously) watched Shaun of the Dead, I don't think jokes about them are funny, and I wish the whole stupid craze over them would just GO AWAY ALREADY. *breathe*

Anyway, you're free to like the damn things, to each their own, but I don't.

Which is why a zombie-themed doll is problematic for me. )

Some of you may be asking: "where is the Ghouls Rule review we were promised?" Well, I went to take the pictures for it tonight, and my camera battery was dead, so I decided to do this one with pictures I already had instead. We'll get back to GR eventually. :D
Yes, I am making another post, Andrew is at class and I'm trying to entertain myself, deal with it. Also, I didn't want this to go in my last post, but I want it to go up before Halloween. ANYWAY.

Photo heavy post, ahoy!

Feelings on this doll are divided, apparently. )

Possibly I will get in another GR review tomorrow night, it depends on how many kids come to the door. (Should I be really excited to hand out candy? I don't care, I'm SUPER EXCITED.) But the question is, who do you want to see reviewed next? GR Frankie, Cleo, or Abbey?

[Poll #1875712][Poll #1875712]
All right, get ready for this LJ world, it's a special double review! In honor of Halloween, I'm going to break out of the pattern I've been going in (reviewing dolls in the approximate order in which I got them) and review some of my Ghouls Rule dolls. They're Halloween themed, and meant to go with the MH Halloween special, so this is the most appropriate time to talk about them, don't you think?

But it's also a little bit more complicated than that. )

More GR reviews coming soon! I'll try to get at least one more in before Halloween.
I mentioned in my last MH review that I bought Frankie and Clawdeen at the same time, and that was because I couldn't decide which one of them I wanted more.

I mean, look at her! )

I'm watching HalloweenTown while I write this, so
what better time to do a werewolf review? )

Heh, I'm at the part of Halloweentown where they get hair from the totally straight, why do you ask werewolf hairdresser. I love this movie. I bet Marnie would fit right in with the MH kids.
I've mentioned this a couple of times, but the hour is finally here! I am going to start doing Monster High doll reviews, mostly because I feel like it. If you're not interested in this, that's fine, it will all be under a cut and you can just scroll right on by. But if you want to see just what I've sunk hundreds of dollars into over the past three years, now's your chance!

These reviews were inspired by those on The Toy Box Philosopher, a doll/toy review blog I stumbled across a few weeks ago. It's a great blog, and you should check it out.

Starting with a little backstory... )
